The air outside the vent was cool and fresh, a stark contrast to the claustrophobic nightmare I had just endured.
Sweet sweet freedom.
Better not do this ever again!
I swear if I have to do it again.... I will make sure to blow the whole vent up.
Motherfluffing spiders for sure.
Who even created them?
God had to be on some kind of drugs for this!
I took a moment to catch my breath, savoring the feeling of freedom. But I couldn't rest for long. I had to get to the police station and deliver the evidence that I just so painfully gathred.
Me: Alright, let's do this....
As much as I hated it, I have spent too much time in that building. It certainly didn't feel like it but the nightsky was starting to shift and I knew it was a question of time for the morning to come.
I moved quickly, I had to. There was basically no time left to deliver the information. As a vigilante, I could only move through the night. Perhapse it was even easier to give Shoto a call and tell him about this. BUT ..... I couldn't get him into troubles too.
The police station wasn't far, but every second counted.
When I arrived, the station was mostly deserted, the late hour leaving it eerily quiet... it was right before the morning shift would probably arrive but too late for the late night shift to be still around.
I approached the side entrance, the one I knew would lead me directly to the detective's office. I didn't have time for pleasantries or explanations. I needed to get in, deliver the evidence, and get out.
Alright, here goes nothing.
Let's hope no one asks questions.
Mask on and let's go!
I jimmied the lock, my hands still shaking from the encounter with the spiders and the dead children and the adrenaline in my veins. The door clicked open, and I slipped inside, moving silently through the hallways. First off, I was not the best, no I didn't know how to lock pick at all but a kick and the door would open... besides it seems as if this entrance fas for the smokers and the door was not locked which made it easy to open.
There was no time to spare, so I made my way up to the room I was searching for. The detective's office was at the end of the corridor, a single light on inside. I crept up to the door and pushed it open.
Yes, I didn't care if the officer was inside or not.
The kids were more important.
At this moment I just fully trusted my instincts and the importance of these papers before anything else.
The detective's desk was cluttered with papers, the remnants of a long day's work for sure but and here comes the important part. There was no sign of anyone inside. I placed the evidence on the desk, my eyes scanning the room for anything I could use to leave a message. I found a notepad and a pen and quickly scribbled a note.
Me: "Found this at the lab. Kids are in danger. Please help."
I hesitated for a moment, then added, "Signed, Deku."
As I turned to leave, a soft hum filled the room. I spun around to see a portal opening in front of me, the swirling darkness was definitely no other than Kurogiri.
The note should be alright...
I needed something to write after all... and I can't just stick here.
I need to get home too...
But...
Kurogiri?
Now?
Seriously?
I just finished the letter...
Maybe he could help me get home....
Me: Kurogiri...
Kurogiri: Finally found you.
His voice was calm, almost soothing, a stark contrast to the chaos I had just escaped. However I could tell that he was definitely not calm and he was just trying his best to stay calm and sound calm.
Me: Can you give me a lift away from here? I need to get out of here before anyone sees me.
Kurogiri nodded, glancing at the note on the desk.
Kurogiri: Leaving a message for the detective?
Me: Yeah. He needs to know what's going on.
Kurogiri: And what is going on?
Me: Those kids... they don't have much time.
Kurogiri: Kids?
Me: There was a lab.... I got stuck there.
Kurogiri: ......Let's get you home..... before anything more happens.
I didn't catch what he said at all because I was just too tired so I just left it at that.
He stepped aside, gesturing for me to enter the portal. I hesitated for a moment, glancing back at the detective's office one last time. I hoped the note would be enough, that the evidence would prompt them to act quickly. Obviously, I also left all the notes there on the table too.
Me: Thanks, Kurogiri.
I stepped through the portal, the sensation of being pulled through space making my stomach churn and I wanted to just close my eyes. It basically felt like a rollercoaster ride... a very bad one.
When I emerged on the other side, I was back in my room, the familiar surroundings a welcome sight for sure.
Kurogiri: Are you injured?
I was... but I wouldn't tell him that for sure.
How was I supposed to tell him I was injured when I had this hunch that he was quite panicked when he found me.
Me: Besides some spider trauma, I am fine.
Kurogiri: Are you sure?
Me: Yeah.
My quirk should have healed me by now....
Guess I am just feeling some phantom pain...
I mean after everything, I am sure I just need some sleep and everything will be fine.
Kurogiri inclined his head, then disappeared back through the portal, leaving me alone in the quiet room. I collapsed onto the bed, my body aching and my mind racing. The image of those kids, scared and huddled together, haunted me. I had to trust that the detective would find the note and act quickly.
Hang on, kids. Help is on the way.
Just hold on Eri...
Everything will be alright.
I closed my eyes, hoping for a few hours of sleep before I had to wake up again and then face the brand new day. However first, I had to get out of the costume I had and hide it from All Might and my mom.
