Shoto's POV:

I can't believe I lost him. Again.

I stood on the sidewalk, staring at the spot where Izuku had vanished from sight, my heart pounding in my chest. My mind raced, trying to piece together what had just happened. One minute, we were having a great time, and the next, Izuku had taken off like a bullet after some guy in a green jacket with violet fluff.

Damn it, Izuku. Why didn't you just stay with me?

My hands were shaking as I pulled out my phone and dialed a number I hadn't called in a while. The line rang twice before a familiar, gruff voice answered.

Grandmother Shoto? What the hell do you want now out of all time? Shouldn't you be with Izuku? Why are you not giving him all the attention you can?! I thought I raised you better.

Me: Grandma—

My voice came out more frantic than I intended. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.

Me: I need your help.

There was a pause on the other end of the line, followed by an irritated huff.

Grandmother: What did you do this time? Did you burn down something again? Or did you freeze something up? Where is Izuku anyways... don't tell me you hurt him?!

Me: No, no, it's not that.  It's Izuku. He—he ran off. I couldn't stop him.

The silence on the other end was deafening, and I could practically feel the storm brewing. When she finally spoke, her voice was laced with barely contained fury.

Grandmother:  Are you telling me that my sweet, precious Izuku ran away from you, you useless little—

Me: I didn't let him!

I interrupted, my voice cracking under the weight of my panic.

Me: He just—he saw someone and took off before I could do anything!

Grandmother: Someone? What the hell do you mean 'someone'? You'd better have a damn good explanation, or so help me, I'll drag your sorry ass back home and beat some sense into you myself! I told you I want him as my grandchild! He is gonna be my granddaughter in law!!! Don't mess this up. He is perfect for you.

I winced at the thought of facing her wrath in person.

Grandma doesn't mess around.

Me: It was this guy. He was wearing this weird green coat with violet fluff around the collar. I didn't get a good look at his face, but Izuku just bolted after him like he knew who it was.

There was a sharp intake of breath on the other end, followed by a string of curses that would've made even Bakugo blush.

Grandmother:  You idiot! That's Overhaul! You just let my grandson-in-law chase after one of the most dangerous villains out there, and you didn't stop him?!

WHAT?!

HOW DOES IZUKU KNOW HIM?!

I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!!!!!

I flinched at her words, feeling the full weight of my failure crash down on me.

Me: I—I didn't realize—

Grandmother: Of course you didn't realize, you're a damn fool! Now you listen to me, Shoto, and you listen good. You get your ass in gear and find Izuku before that bastard does something to him! Do you understand me?

Me: Yes, Grandma, I understand—

Grandmother:  And don't think for a second that I won't come down there and kick your ass myself if you don't find him! I'll be out looking too, but if I beat you to him, you'll wish you'd never been born, you hear me?"

Me: Yes, ma'am!

I squeaked, my heart pounding with a mix of fear and determination.

There's no way I'm letting her get to Izuku before I do.

No way.

Grandmother:  Good! Now get moving, and don't you dare come back without him!

The line went dead, and I stood there for a moment, trying to process everything. My mind was racing, my emotions a chaotic mess. I knew I had to find Izuku—there was no question about that. But the thought of him out there, alone and possibly in danger, made my stomach churn.

Izuku, please be okay.

Without another moment's hesitation, I took off running in the direction Izuku had gone, my heart pounding in my chest. I wasn't going to let anything happen to him. Not on my watch.

Hang on, Izuku.

I'm coming.
