Shoto's POV:
What just happened?
I couldn't move. I could barely even breathe as I watched the scene unfold in front of me. Grandma had just... obliterated them. Every single one of those villains, including Overhaul himself, was lying in a heap on the ground, completely taken out by a woman who looked like she should be at home knitting sweaters. But no, there she was, standing tall and terrifying, her fists still clenched as she looked around, making sure none of them would dare get up.
My heart was racing, pounding in my chest so loudly that I thought it might burst. I'd been chasing after Izuku, desperate to catch up to him before he did something reckless, but... I was too late.....
What the hell was I thinking, letting him run off like that?
I should've been faster, should've stopped him, should've—
A sharp pain shot through the back of my head as something—or rather someone—smacked me hard.
Grandmother: Shoto!
I yelped in surprise as Grandma grabbed me by the ear, her grip like a steel vise. She didn't give me a chance to recover, just started dragging me toward Izuku, who was standing there looking equally shocked.
Me: Grandma, what—?
I started, but she cut me off with a glare that could have melted steel.
Grandmother: Don't you 'Grandma' me, young man.
She continued yanking me along with absolutely no mercy.
Grandmother: You let him run off on his own like that? Do you have any idea how stupid that was?
I winced as she pulled harder, my ear screaming in protest.
Me: I tried to stop him—
Grandmother: Tried
For a second I thought she stopped but nope. She huffed pulling me a bit more then finally letting go of my ear but not before giving me a sharp smack on the back of my head.
Grandmother: Not hard enough, clearly. Now look what happened! Your poor boyfriend could've been hurt—
Me: But he wasn't!
I protested, rubbing my sore head.
Me: He's fine!
Grandma narrowed her eyes at me, clearly unimpressed.
Grandmother: DO YOU NOT REMEMBER THAT HEALING QUIRK HE HAS?!!!!!! And whose fault is that? Certainly not yours, you useless brat. If I hadn't shown up when I did, who knows what would've happened?
Me: I... I know......
I muttered, feeling about two inches tall.
I mean I guess.... I did forget about his quirk. Now looking at him, I could definitely see some blood on himself... but I wasn't sure if he was injrued or if he did that to some of the villains. Besides there are not many incident when my grandma calls me a brat. This was mainly a sign that she was very... very... angry and couldn't hold back at all. I would be too if I was not this scared for Izuku... I nearly lost him today after all.
Grandmother: Of course you know. But knowing doesn't fix it.
It was only now that she grumbled, then turned to Izuku, her expression softening.
Grandmother: You alright, sweetheart?
What a personality switch..... from 100 to 0 in seconds.
Izuku nodded, still looking a bit shell-shocked.
Izuku: Y-Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks to you, Grandma.
Grandmother: Good.
She patted his cheek affectionately, then turned back to me with a glare.
Grandmother: And you! You're supposed to be protecting him, not running around like a headless chicken! You're going to be his husband one day, and if you think for one second I'm letting you off the hook for this, you've got another thing coming.
Me: I know! I know this more than you think!
Izuku: H-Husband?
Grandmother: Damn right, husband! And you'd better start acting like one Shoto Todoroki!! This boy deserves nothing less.
I glanced at Izuku, who was blushing furiously, looking anywhere but at me.
Me: Uh, yeah, of course, I... I'll do better, Grandma, I promise.
She huffed, clearly not convinced.
Grandmother: You'd better. Now, both of you—scram! Go enjoy the rest of your date, and don't make me have to chase after you again. And for heaven's sake, start planning for that great-grandson of mine. I'm not getting any younger, you know!
Me: Wait, what—?
I spluttered, but she was already turning away, waving us off like we were nothing more than annoying flies.
Grandmother: Scram!
She barked one last time, and I didn't need to be told twice. I grabbed Izuku's hand, and we both took off running, not daring to look back until we were a good distance away.
We finally stopped in a quiet corner of the amusement park, both of us panting for breath. I could still feel my heart racing, but for a completely different reason now.
Isuku: That was... intense.....
Me: Yeah,....Grandma's... something else.
Izuku: She really wants us to get married, huh?
I felt my face heat up again.
Me: Yeah... I guess she does.
We stood there for a moment, just looking at each other, the weight of everything that had happened starting to settle in. But then I realized something—Izuku was safe. He was here, with me, and despite everything, we still had our date to finish.
Me: Hey,....Let's go ride some more rides. We've still got the whole day ahead of us.
Izuku's smile widened, and he nodded.
Izuku: Yeah, let's do that.
And as we walked back toward the park, hand in hand, I couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, Grandma was right. Maybe this whole marriage thing wasn't such a bad idea after all.... not that I wasn't thinking about it for a while now. Even my mother agreed to this and talked to me about this over and over ever after I started dating Izuku.
