Victor Newman smirked as he read the breaking news on his phone. William Foster Abbott had been arrested for the murder of Ashland Locke. He chuckled as he put his phone back in his suit pocket. The police had a suspect and Victoria was safe in Europe, far away from the madness.

"Dad, what are you doing here?" Victor looked up to see a confused Adam standing in the doorway. In Adam's defense Victor was sitting in his chair, in his office. "Is there a particular reason that you're here?" Adam asked as he walked into the office and sat across from him. Victor chuckled as he smirked at his son. Adam was never one to beat around the bush, a quality that he admired when not being used against him.

"You heard about Billy Boy's arrest?" Adam smirked as he nodded. He loved the fact that that asshat got himself arrested. He was still incredibly angry and hurt over what Billy said to him yesterday. He looked at his father and noticed how smug he looked; Victor always looked smug but this time he seemed proud of himself, like he had accomplished a major goal. Adam wondered what Victor could be so happy about, then it came to him... Billy Abbott's arrest.

"It was you, wasn't it? You had Billy arrested." Adam asked his father.

Victor shrugged, "I don't know what you're talking about son. Billy and his lack of impulse control got him in trouble again. It really is a tragedy, especially for my grandchildren. Their father is a killer and a public embarrassment."

Adam smirked at his father. It was a brilliant plan; Victoria could heal from the trauma Locke inflicted on her and Billy would be out of the way. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. "Don't worry, dad, your secret is safe with me."

"What secret?" Victor asked, pretending to be confused, but not giving anything away.

Adam just nodded, knowing that it was as close to a confession that he was going to get. "I agree Billy is an embarrassment to both his family and the world. I do have one question though, does Victoria know? I cannot imagine that she would be happy about this." As much as he hated Billy, him going to prison would force Victoria into being a single mother completely. Adam could not imagine that his sister would want the father of her children in prison.

Victor sighed heavily; Victoria had been on his mind since the news of the arrest broke. He hoped that Nikki would make sure that Victoria was not near her phone. The mustache was afraid that she would rush back into town before she could fully heal if she knew that Billy had been arrested. Victor had been communicating with Nikki to make sure that Victoria was recovering. Billy's arrest had also been kept from Nikki.

"Dad?" Victor looked up to see Adam staring at him, concern in his eyes. Victor realized that he must have spaced out.

"I haven't spoken to your sister since she and Nikki left for Europe. I have no idea if she knows about Billy Boy's arrest. I just hope that she stays where she is and doesn't come rushing back to his rescue." Victor responded. Adam agreed with his father, Victoria staying away was the best thing for everyone. He was afraid that Billy's arrest would make the international news, something that not even Victor could control.

"Has Nikki mentioned if Victoria remembers what she did?" Adam asked his father. Victor sighed and confirmed that Victoria was still blocking out the memory of shooting Ashland Locke. "Well, that's good. Hopefully, it stays that way and Billy gets convicted for committing a terrible crime."

Victor chuckled and held up his water glass in a toast. "To Billy getting what he deserves." Adam raised his own water glass in tribute and the two Newmans made a celebratory toast.

"Really, you guys are celebrating?" Both men turned to see a disgusted Nick standing in the doorway. They groaned; they should have known that "Saint'' Nick would have a problem with Victor's plan. For his part, Nick should have known that his father and especially his brother would have zero problems with Billy going to jail for a crime he didn't commit. On the other hand, he didn't want his sister spending the rest of her life in prison; as far as he was concerned, she did the world a favor by taking Ashland Locke out of it.
