Victor was rushed into Genoa City Memorial paramedics racing around him. Nikki ran after his stretcher, struggling to keep her tears in. The emergency room doctors shut the curtain barring her from his room. With shaky fingers, she pulled out her phone to call Nicholas, he could inform the rest of the family.

"Hey, mom. What's up?" Nick greeted his mother.

"Nicholas" Nikki stammered, her voice wavering.

"Mom? Are you okay? What happened?" Nick was on alert now. It took a lot to rattle his mother. It had to have been a family member.

"Your father, he ah, he's in the hospital. Possible stroke."

"What do you need me to do?"

"Call the family and let them know."

"I'll do it on the way. Try to stay calm, I'll be there as soon as possible."

And with that, Nick hung up the phone. He threw on his jacket and ran out the door. Jumping in the car, he started calling his siblings. Victoria's phone went straight to voicemail, so he tried Abby next.

"Hi Nick"

"Abby, Dad's had a stroke. You need to get to the hospital." Abby dropped the phone in shock. Her father always seemed so strong; how could he have a stroke?

"Okay, I'll meet you there. Did you need me to call Adam?"

"No, I've got it." Nick stated, confused as to why she would volunteer to call Adam. "I'm going to let you go so I can call him. I'll see you at the hospital." Abby hung up as a goodbye.

Bracing himself Nick dialed Adam's phone, to his surprise Adam didn't answer it. "Hello?" Sally answered as Adam was otherwise occupied.

"Sally, I need to talk to Adam, where is he?" Nick asked, skipping right over the greetings. Sally could hear the tension in his voice and raced to get Adam. Her man was busy in the kitchen. Now that she was in the last trimester, he was going overboard making sure she was eating right and spending as much time off her feet as possible.

"Adam!" The man in question turned to see Sally running down the stairs.

"Sally, you're supposed to be resting. You could've tripped and gotten hurt." Adam scolded her.

Sally rolled her eyes, "I'm not an invalid. Besides it's your fault you left your phone upstairs and you got a phone call. From your brother. He sounds stressed."

Adam's eyebrows raised and he took the phone. Nick never called him so whatever he needed to say had to be bad. "Nick, what's up?"

"Dad's in the hospital. It doesn't look good. You should get over here." Nick got straight to the point, something Adam respected.

Adam was stunned. Victor was dying? How? "We'll be right there." He hung up the phone still in a daze. Sally watched him move about with worried eyes.

"Adam, what did Nick say?" She asked slowly.

"Victor is in the hospital. It's not good. We need to go." Adam stammered out trying to find his car keys. Thankfully, Connor was at a friend's for the night so he didn't need to worry about him. Sally took the keys out of his hand.

"You are in no condition to drive." Sally stated. "I'm driving end of discussion. Now get in the car." She cut off the argument. She pushed him out the door and followed shortly after. The car ride was mostly spent in silence. Sally's eyes darted over to Adam occasionally. She had never seen him so quiet; the shock must have really been getting to him.

"I'll be an orphan." Adam whispered, the realization hitting him like a sledgehammer.

"What?" Sally asked, confused.
