I felt myself sink into the new couch. Jamie had picked it out....or should I say my fiancé picked it out. I still wasn't used to it yet.

The Starks and the Lannisters had been at war with each other since before I was born. My father and Jamie's father decided they wanted to come together to take on a new crew that was spreading over the city: the Targaryens.

They thought the best way to solidify the groups would be with an arranged marriage. That's where Jamie and I come in.

I always imagined myself picking out my own husband, but I wanted to do what was best for my family too.

I had known Jamie almost all my life. We'd gone to school together. Although we knew better than to get too close to one another.

That didn't mean I didn't notice him. And every little thing he did. I knew he was a kind man.

So 2 months ago my father decided that we needed to align ourselves with the Lannister's. He told me it would be vital for my younger siblings safety as he knew I would hardly refuse that. I also didn't push back as there were worst men to be married to than Jamie.

I don't know if Jamie was being pressured with similar demands, but I assume so as neither of us have put up much of a fuss.

We moved into our new house last week. Jamie and I have been friendly with each other, but no talks of anything serious have happened. It didn't help that every thought seemed to fly from my brain when I looked at Jamie. I mean....he was really handsome.

The house, a condo really, was small. But I didn't mind. It was actually nice to have space away from my siblings. It wasn't everyday I could just sit on the couch, read a book, enjoy the quiet which is what I was doing now.

The door clicked open. "Hey." I called out without looking up. You can't see the door from the couch anyways. I heard some grunting. Then I heard what sounded like the rug I just put out being pushed across the floor.

I heard some whispers and mumbles. "Shit, you said she'd be out." I was starting to get curious. I put my book down and start to reach for the drawer where I know I left my pepper spray. I wondered if Jamie was trying to bring a girl home.

My face flushed at the thought.

"Easy there." I hear a gruff voice mumble.

"Jamie?" I call out uncertainly.

"And Bronn!" I hear the gruff voice again.

I exhale. Bronn is Jamie's best friend and top man. "We thought you'd be out til later." he calls.

I shake my head, although they can't see me yet "I never left actually. I wasn't in the mood for Stark family dinner."

I turn the corner to see Bronn dragging Jamie. "Oh my God." I say as I rush to reach them. Jamie looks shakey and pale.

"What happened?" I ask. "Nothing to worry about, love." Jamie slurs. "Is he drunk?" I ask. Before Bronn can answer, I catch a look at his bloody shirt.

"Bronn." I rumble out, making it known to him that I need an answer.

"We found ourselves in a bit of a drunken scuffle with the Targaryens." I roll my eyes and slip and my arm around Jamie.

Together Bronn and I get him to the couch. As Jamie lies down, it becomes obvious that this was more than a scuffle.

When Jamie leans his head back, clearly ready to sleep, I lift his shirt. "He's been stabbed!" I exclaim. Someone did a shitty job trying to patch the wound.
