CHAPTER 21

Darien wasn't able to reach Ivy at home and knew she was going to be in the hospital. He left her alone and he was going to meet her at work and apologize for misbehaving with her.

Ivy entered the hospital room and she saw Emily was already conscious. She was sitting on the bed and her beautiful face was pale. Ivy was so happy, she ran to Emily and hugged her.

Emily smiled and she hugged her friend back. Emily was patting Ivy back and scrolling her hair.

"How many days was I unconscious?" Emily was talking very weak and acting weak.

"You scared me," Ivy started crying. "You were unconscious for a week. It felt like you were in a coma."

Emily removed her body and held her shoulders and she made her face opposite her. She smiled and she was touched to see her best friend this way. She cleaned her eyes and removed her tears.

"Nothing happened, I'm fine." Emily was still talking weak.

"The doctor said you can go home tomorrow and you need to stop taking alcohol. You're pregnant."

Emily nodded and she smiled at her friend. She wanted to make or crack jokes to her friend but she was too weak for that.

"Any gist?"

Ivy was thinking whether she should tell Emily about what happened between her and Darien. She didn't want to stress her but it seems like something Emily would like to hear and she never kept anything from her.

"Actually yes!" Ivy smiled, "it would shock you but listen carefully."

Emily became curious and she bought her ear closer even though she was too weak to move.

"Darien kissed me." She whispered to Emily

"What?!" Emily didn't know where she got the energy from but she started hitting Ivy very hard.

Ivy was screaming for help and they didn't realize when Darien ran I to the room. He was panting and it felt like he was running to save someone. The two of them looked at him and they paused. Emily hands were in the air and her face faced Darien. Ivy back was almost touching Emily hand that was in the air and her face faced Darien.

The situation was awkward for the three of them and mostly for Darien. He looked like he was worried that someone might get harmed. Probably because he heard Ivy screaming, he thought she was in trouble.

He sighed and touched his head with his hand, he was sweating a lot. He was catching his breath and they were still in the same position.

Ivy stood from the bed and she went to Darien.

"Are you okay?" She was already getting worried.

Darien thought she was in trouble when he heard her scream, tgat was why he came running.

Darien looked at her and he was still panting. He didn't know how to calm but he did what he felt wass right. He dragged Ivy and he hugged her tightly in his hands.

Ivy felt the clock stop ticking and everywhere became silent, she could only hear his heart beating in her ears placed on his chest. He hugged her and he made her completely speechless.

Emily looked at them and she already knew the two of them were in love. She sighed and cleared her throat. Darien finally noticed her presence, he removed I y from his body and he stared at her.

"Let's talk."

They went outside of the hospital and to the same bent. They sat side by side with each other and they didn't talk.

"I'm sorry." Darien broke the silence and he faced her.

"For what?" Ivy forced a smile that looked fake.

"For misusing you and for kissing you without asking." He sounded sincere.

"Is that all?" Ivy felt like crying and she didn't know why.

"I want to also tell you something." Ivy held back her tears and listened, "I don't want to be a burden to you. You are a great person Ivy and I want you to leave a happy life, I think it would be better if we acted more like boss and employee."

Ivy was holding her tears back and she didn't know why she wanted to cry.

"I don't want to be the cause of your failure, after you got close to me, you've gotten nothing but pain and I don't want that to happen. From now on keep to your standards at work." Darien stood and he walked away.

All the tears Ivy had held, it started falling like waterfall. She kept crying and she didn't move away.

Chinaza entered the Arizona mansion and she the place quiet well. She and Arizona used to play here when Arizona was still small. She saw Arizona sitting in the couch and she sat straight like she was in a business meeting.

"Sit down." Her voiced echoee in the place.

Chinaza sat opposite her and she sat straight also.

"You called me ma'am." She remained formal with her even after years of being with her.

"Yes." She gave a sly voice and stared at Chinaza, "Find out everything you know about Ivy, and give me feedback about her in a week time."

Chinaza nodded and she was about leaving but she saw Doris coming in. She bowed her head to pay respect to her. She served DDC all her life and even the children of the founder. Doris smiled and entered without knocking.

"Wait!" Arizona stopped Chinaza fr leaving, "also overload her with work that she doesn't have time to see Darien."

Chinaza nodded and she left the house without even uttering a sentence. Doris sat exactly were Chinaza sat and Arizona left the same face.

"I have good news for you." Arizona was curious to know and she changed her expression. "Your dream of getting married to Darien is finally going to come through."

"What? How?" Around was already feeling happy, she was hopeless before but now a new ray of hope is awaiting her.

"Drake is going to help you get married." Arizona completely changed her mood.

"How is that going to happen? How am I going to gain?"

"To have Darien, it comes with a price." Arizona raised a brow, "you'll get married to Darien through Drake and then you will leave all of Darien position to Drake. After that, you'll go on a life business trip with Darien."

Arizona sighed and she frowned. Then she thought again, if she doesn't grab this offer she might never ever get married to Darien and remain single for life. If she accept this, it would be good. She had never cared of Darien was the chairperson or not. All she wanted was to marry him.

"So do you agree?" Doris had hit the bull eyes quite well.

"It's a deal."
