Darien walked closer to her, they were facing each other and they felt like moving closer. Darien broke down completely, tears dropped from his eyes.
"Darien." She called his name sharply.
She had never seen him cry and she felt so sad seeing him like this. She walked closer to him, they were facing opposite each other and she was almost crying for him.
"Can I hug you?" Without her reply, he dragged her closer to his body and he hugged her tightly.
She felt his tears drop on her back. Her head was touching his chest again and she felt safe in his hands. She controlled the tears from pouring down, she wrapped her hands around him. She used her left hand to pat his back softly and slowly.
"it's okay, you are fine." She spoke softly and she continued patting his back.
He bent his head and he rested it on shoulders. He felt so relieved after hugging her. His entire body calmed down completely.
"I don't want to get married to her." Tears dropped at her back again.
"Why don't you just reject?" Ivy removed her body from his.
She looked up to see him and he wasn't crying anymore. They stared at each other and their eyes were locked.
"Reject?" He gave out a small sarcastic laugh. "You really don't know my father."
"What do you mean?" She rose a brow at him.
"I have never told anyone why I obey my father." He wore a sad face. "Nobody knows why, not even my brother."
It was only Darien, Williams and Favour that knew why Darien followed his order like a machine.
"Why?" She became more curious.
"Come with me." He held her hand and he dragged her inside his house.
He took her inside and they sat on the same couch. He turned his body and he faced opposite him. She did the same and they faced opposite each other.
"When I was a child, I told Williams I wanted to become teacher." He took a deep breath and exhaled, "Williams declined my dream and he wanted me to become a great business man like him. He wanted me to become like him."
"But why? " Ivy was already curious.
"That's how he is." He squeezed his face, "he is a complete devil. I wanted to become a teacher so badly that when I was 18 years, I went to a secret school. Unfortunately he found out and he got me into a scandal. He framed his son and got his 18 years old son into jail for 2 months."
Ivy gasped and she covered her mouth with her hands. Darien knew she would react this way.
"Did anyone know about it?"
"Nobody, not any of my family members. He covered the case about the fake scandal and he threatened me to reopen the case if I didn't go into business line. I was left with no other option to become a slave to him."
"Why did you never report to police or anyone?"
"I had no evidence and I was only 18, I got scared and I didn't want to go to jail." Darien felt relieved after telling her.
Ivy wore a sad face and she held his hands. She scrolled it softly, she forced a smile to cheer him. He smiled back at her but he was obviously sad.
"If there is one person I hate before my brother, it is Williams. After that day, I vowed to never call Williams dad." He gritted his teeth and he was so frustrated.
"Why do you hate your brother so much?" She was still parting his hand softly and their eyes were staring at each other.
"His dream was to become a business man. He was so terrible at handling it, everything he did, became ruined. Williams gave the business to me instead and he vented his frustration out to me. He insulted me, bullied me, beat me up, sent people to maltreat me. Ever since, I hated him."
"What of your mom?" Ivy was liking this conversation.
"I forgot to tell you but she was the only one that knew what her husband did to her child. But she turned a blind eyes and she hated me because her husband gave everything to me and not her other son."
"Oh_ok." She removed her hands slowly from his.
"I'll take you home." He smiled at her.

Darien entered the meeting and he was an hour late. His father was not there but everyone else were present. Ivy was standing beside his seat and she was wearing a navy blue pocket palazzo trouser, a white designer top and a white canvas. She packed her braids to a bun and left two at the front. She was wearing her usual makeup that made her look exceptionally beautiful. The enter people looked at him and they were all shocked to see him, come at this time. He actually woke up late and he wore his usual clothes. A navy blue suit, navy blue trouser and white shirt with two buttons undone, he also wore a black shoe with his hair styled in the same way that made him look hot.
He dressed formal and he walked formal. He sat on his seat and he didn't bother to greet.
"We shall now start." One of the members said and they started.
Darien wasn't interested in what they were doing. He was not listening to them and he kept thinking and looking for means to change his father's decision. He didn't want to spend his life with someone he didn't love.
Ivy noticed that he wasn't listening and the people were just talking to themselves. Darien was thinking and calculating.
"Sir what do you think about the decision?" Monica snapped him from his thoughts and that was the only statement he heard.
He stared at everyone and he was flustered to see everyone's eyes focused on him. He turned to his side and he saw Ivy. She looked him and she rose a brow. He wasn't concentrating at all, he needed to leave immediately.
He stood and he walked out of the place without saying a word. Everyone were confused and they were surprised. Ivy sighed and she went after him.
"Darien! Darien!" She screamed his name and he continued walking fast.
She run to meet him and she was able to drag him by his hands. He turned to her and they faced opposite each other.
"I don't want to be rude. Please let me be. I promise I will come around." He panted and he turned around and he walked away from her.
She didn't know why but she had tears in her eyes. She squeezed her hands together and she felt sad.
