Ivy was sitting on her bed and chatting with her best friend Emily. Emily was telling her the rules and regulations of the company and how she had to abide to it. Ivy just got accepted to work as the secretary of the CEO of DDC. Emily also works there as a casual worker but she's been working there for 4 years.

Emily and Ivy had been best friends for more than 10years even though Emily was older than Ivy with 5years but they acted like they were twins. Emily found the job for Ivy because she has been jobless ever since she finished her university. Ivy considered Emily are only family, Ivy had no parents, she was an orphan. She didn't have any brothers or sisters not even a single relative. She stayed in orphanage homes and was passed from one parent to another but when she clocked 18, she became independent and took care of herself for 6years without anyone's help.

She got a call from Emily and she picked it immediately.

"Hello Ivy." She sounded eager, "I added you to our company chat, go check it out." She didn't wait a second, she immediately hanged up.

Ivy went to the group chat and it was requested that every employee both old and new should be present at the coronation. It was a direct order passed from the chairperson and If anyone disobeyed they could get fired.

Ivy grumbled, she hated going out but now that she's found job especially as a secretary she's got to be moving her ass from one place to the other. She doesn't even know what her boss looks like but she was going to see him for the first time.

She checked the time and it was few minutes pass seven. The coronation is in 2 hours. She has got to go early, it was her time and she had to make a good impression. Like they say first impressions matter.

Ivy stood from her bed and walked towards her wardrobe, she stared at her clothes roll by roll. "What could she wear?" She thought but all the dressed seem too exposing and a club type of dress. You couldn't blame her because she and Emily went to club 5 times a week. She saw a white kneel length gown, she picked it and put it on the bed with a black jacket.

She removed her clothes and wore the clothes she picked. She checked herself in the mirror and she looked stunning. Her sharp blue eyes shined in the mirror and she combed her curly black hair which was 32 inch long. She did a slight makeup and she continued staring at her beauty. She was now ready to seduce all the men at the coronation.

In Maccurly mansion all the family members sited at the dinning room and everyone were eating their food. Silence filled the place like it does everytime they had family dinner.

"Father why did you demand this family dinner?" Drake asked aggressively and was very frustrated of sitting and hearing no words from them.

His father gave him that face that meant *SHUT UP.

"I meant to say_" he got frightened and he just kept quiet and became more furious.

His wife Lilly held his hand and shook her head for him to stay cool. They both needed the father support so the father can choose him to be the next CEO of DDC but Drake has never been a responsible business man, any business he did it always got ruined and it was his younger brother Darien that took care of his mistake. Drake hated his brother but he always had their father to support him and he gave him everything he wanted to have.

"I can't take this anymore," Doris finally spoke and sounded very furious. "What are we doing here? I have to go club and chill with my girls.

Doris was the youngest child of the Maccurly and was extremely spoilt. She had no matters and only lived off her parents money. She wasn't interested in any positions of the company, all she wanted was to keep on spending money and go clubbing.

"Have some manners Doris!" Their mom finally spoke which was rare. The mom never got involved in their matters and kept quiet and only followed her husband wishes whether she liked it or not. "You're 24years old and you still talk about going to club, don't you want to settle down and have a family."

Doris scoffed at her mother's statement. "Who the hell are you to tell me how to leave my life?" She eyed her mother, "it's better to remain silent."

The mom was used to it, she never got a single respect from her children except from Darien, he sometimes bought things for her but they never talked like mother and son, they spoke formally with each other and he even bowed his head to greet her and called her ma'am. He never saw her has his mother but has the chairperson's wife. Drake and Doris never looked her side but insulted her most of the time.

Darien didn't utter a word but just kept on eating his food peacefully. He never talked to his family or confined with them. He had a very formal relationship with his family and lived a very lonely life and most especially he was like a machine to his father, he did everything his father wanted without any complain.

"Father!" Doris screamed which made everyone face her with surprise even Darien. "Answer us or I'll leave." She squeeze her smooth face and shined her hazel eyes at her father.

"How dare you?" Williams finally spoke and he threatened his only daughter with does statement. "It seems like you've forgotten manners."

Doris didn't want her dad to seize her assets so she shut her mouth immediately.

"I know all of you are curious to know why I suddenly set a family dinner_" he paused and left everyone in curiosity, "I have decided who I want to give the CEO of DDC to."

Everywhere became more silent and everyone were eager to hear this especially Drake. Drake began to regret shouting the other time, he was so stupid for that. Probably miracle could happen to him and his father can reconsider him since he his the first born.

Darien hoped in his mind that his father said Drake. He was so tired of running the business since he was 14 which was for 13years. He had to do something he wanted.

Doris didn't care because she knew her father wouldn't dare give it to her except he was cast with a spell. She wanted him to give it to her eldest brother Drake who was 5years older than her. If it was given to Drake she would be able to gain money but if it was Darien, 5 bucks won't reach her. She hated Darien and never liked talking to him. She only talked to him only to receive money from him which he never gave.

The silence in the air became thiner and it felt like there was no oxygen.

"I would like for you, Darien to take over my business." Those words made everyone in the room go to the drain. Nobody wanted to hear those words, it broke everyone apart especially Drake and Darien.
