Week 9
After that event, Osorō and I went to his place, and he drove in an eerie silence. Occasionally, I'd try to break the silence by making small talk, but when Osorō kept giving me one-worded replies, I gave up and resorted to looking out the window instead.
When we got to his place, he said, "Wait here." I watched in confusion as he went into the house and came back out with my bag.
"What are you doing?" I asked him.
"Taking you to Kokona's," he answered stiffly.
"Why...?"
"What's her address?"
I told him the address and he started to drive there, still not explaining anything no matter how many times I asked. When we pulled up to the house, he got out, but I locked my door before he could open it. "Not until you tell me what the hell is going on."
He unlocked the car with the car fib and opened my door, yanking me out with a yelp. "You said that that freak was targeting you because of someone you're close to, right?"
"Yeah, and?"
"Well, what if it's me?"
"What?" I blinked, then scoffed. "Don't be ridiculous, it's—"
"Is it really that ridiculous?" He shot back. "She's targeted us twice now."
"Osorō, it's not what you—"
"I'm breaking up with you."
"What?" This time, I blinked away tears. "What do you mean?" I whispered.
"I can't have you getting hurt because of me," he whispered back, caressing my face with his hand. "I'd never forgive myself."
"Osorō, please don't do this," I begged him. "It's not what you think..."
"I can't risk it," he insisted. Then, he took my face into his hands and kissed me — really kissed me, like it was the last time he'd get to. Then, he handed me my bag and stepped away from me. "Find someone on ya pop's level to be with. Go back to your wealth and status, and you'll be safe."
"Osorō, please," I weakly whined.
"I can't, Athena. But I won't forget you."
He drove away, taking my heart with him and running it over. I fell to the ground and sobbed, loud enough that it attracted Kokona's attention, who came outside with a worried expression. I told her everything, but nothing could cure the heartache.

Monday.
Osorō had told me to find someone on my father's level to be with. So, as I walked into school with Kokona, a steely, stony expression on my face, I was determined to kiss the first potential suitor I saw: Aso, Kizano, or Amao. Or maybe even Budo, who knew.
I headed to my shoe locker, fully expecting to see and kiss Aso if he was there, but surprisingly, he wasn't. I changed my shoes and glanced around, momentarily locking eyes with Osorō. His eyes were sharp as he glared me down, and I averted my eyes quickly, not liking the look on his face.
I deliberately pushed past him, however, heading into the plaza. I glanced around, looking for someone. Taro-senpai was out of the question, of course. I couldn't give Ayano a real reason for wanting to kill me.
In the distance, I saw Amao heading towards the cooking club. Eyes locked on my target, I hurried in his direction, only to have Aso cross my path before I reached him.
"Hey Athena-sama, are you on your way to rehearsal?"
Perfect, I thought. I ran into Aso after all.
"Of course, I am, but Aso..."
He blinked, staring at me with a confused smile. "Y-yes?"
I glanced over his shoulder just in time to see Osorō entering my line of sight, and he had a front row seat to what I was about to do.
I reached up, resting my hands on Aso's shoulders, and kissed him. Shocked, for a moment Aso didn't kiss me back — but then he reached a hand up to cup my cheek as he kissed me.
Around us, students gasped as they witnessed us, and then immediately gossiping amongst themselves.
"OMG, Aso and the Goddess of Akademi?!"
"I knew the delinquent leader couldn't hold her attention for long."
"See, this makes more sense! Just look at them. They're so cute together!"
"Yeah, Aso-kun and Athena-sama!"
Around us, students cheered as I pulled away from Aso, who was blushing wildly and grinning widely. "Wow, Athena, I didn't know you felt this way, too. Can I walk you to rehearsal, then?"
"Of course."
Aso reached down and grabbed my hand as we headed towards the gymnasium, ignoring Osorō's piercing glare as we walked past him. His gang muttered insults under their breath as we walked by, but I ignored them, too.
Aso and I walked into the gymnasium, and he kissed my cheek before I headed into changing booths to change into my costume. I rehearsed with the rest of the drama club, prepping for opening night, which was that Friday. I was nervous as hell for my acting debut, but I was sure it would prove to be a good distraction from my breakup with Osorō — and so would my new relationship with Aso.
