Week 9

Seeing how well the beginning of the week was going, there was no way I could've predicted how horribly wrong Thursday was about to become.

It started off normal. I spent most of my time hanging out with Aso, Kokona, and Saki, avoiding Taro-senpai in the plaza. Aso and I would walk to class together, annoying Osorō and his gang whenever we entered the classroom together. His cronies would glare at us, but Osorō himself, however, never even spared me a glance.

Then, at lunchtime, Aso and I shared the contents of our bento boxes with each other. Though we were considered to be Akademi's newest couple, neither of us addressed our relationship. To be honest, I was more using him as a rebound, so even if we did decide to make our relationship official, it wouldn't be a genuine one — at least, not for me.

As we walked back to class after lunch on Thursday, my phone buzzed with a text from within my pocket, so I decided to check it.

It was my father.

Father: You've done well listening to me. You may return home tonight.

I bit the inside of my mouth. I didn't plan on returning, but I knew Father wouldn't take too kindly to being left on read, so I decided to just reply before I entered the classroom again.

Me: Ok.

Cleaning time was uneventful as always, save for the glares I received from one of Osorō's cronies since we were cleaning by columns that day. However, after cleaning time...

I went to grab my script from my locker, and a pink note fluttered to my feet. I bent down to pick it up and read the contents.

I want to speak to you about suspicious activity. Please meet me in the outdoor cafeteria at 4:00 p.m. I hope you'll be there.

I frowned. Did someone else besides Osorō and Aru know about Ayano's true nature? There wasn't a name on the note, but it made me curious nonetheless.

I decided to meet them.

Pocketing the note, I grabbed my script to be prepared for the rehearsal after meeting with this person, then hurried to the meeting location. Since cleaning time ended at four, I was running late; but I figured whoever had left the note for me was also running late, too.

When I arrived, I didn't see anyone, so I sat down at one of the tables to wait for them. After about eight minutes, I grew impatient, and stood to leave, when a figure stepped into view, making my blood run cold in an instant.

Of course it was her.

It was a trick to get me secluded.

"You... did you leave that note in my locker?"

Ayano Aishi stood before me with a wicked grin and a dark look in her eyes, twirling a shiny, sharp knife in her hands as she blocked my only exit. "You and I have some... unfinished business, don't we? Athena-sama."

I groaned and crossed my arms. I knew choosing to be angry with her was probably a dangerous thing to do, but at this point her constant accusation was annoying me. "Ugh, how many times do I have to tell you? I don't have a crush on Tar—"
