!!40 - A Slow Recovery

Week 9 (Third Person POV)

The police and ambulance showed up shortly after to retrieve both Ayano and Athena. Osorō personally saw to it that Ayano couldn't escape her arrest by returning to the outdoor cafeteria as she started waking up again, for once entrusting Athena to Aso. He restrained her once more until the police had arrived to handcuff her.

Then, Osorō hurried to the ambulance, where the paramedics were rushing Athena in on a stretcher. Only one person could ride in the ambulance with her, and before Osorō could insist he be the one to go with her, Aso, who had been in the nurse's office with them, suggested Osorō ride with her, a strained smile on his face.

"As much as I like her, I realize now that the person she likes isn't me," Aso explained. "Whenever she wakes up, I know she'll be happier seeing you than me."

For the first time since Athena had stolen their hearts, the two guys acknowledged each other respectfully. They nodded at each other, and Aso ran off to catch up with his club while Osorō hopped into the ambulance with Athena.

Inside the ambulance, one of the paramedics turned to him and asked, "I know this may be a long shot, but is there any chance you're able to contact Haru Akiyama?"

Osorō scoffed. "That fucker? No. But I know Athena's passcode on her phone, if she has it on her."

The lady nodded. "I'll let you, then."

As they hooked her up to machines, Osorō carefully riffled through her skirt pockets and found her phone. He typed in her passcode — 1113, his birthday — and quickly found her father in her contacts and called him.

He picked up after the third ring. "Athena Akiyama, you should be rehearsing. Why are you calling me?"

Osorō couldn't help but blow his fuse. "Listen to me, fuck face. You should treat your only daughter with respect, she's set to inherit your company."

"Who the hell is this?! I'll have you know—"

"Osorō Shidesu. You'd better remember my name, because Athena would be dead if it weren't for me."

"...dead?! What the hell kind of prank is this?!"

"Yeah, your daughter's been attacked. We're on our way to the hospital right now."

"Put my daughter on the phone."

"Did you not hear me just now?!" He yelled, then lowered his voice when the paramedics hushed him, but his tone was still extremely harsh. "She's not even conscious! Can you not hear the sirens? They're loud as fuck right now!"

"...what hospital are you going to?"

"What hospital are we going to?" Osorō asked the paramedic lady, but it came out as more of a demand than a request.

"B-Buraza Hospital."

"Buraza Hospital. Meet us there now if you care at all about your only daughter."

With that, Osorō hung up without waiting for Haru's response. Immediately after pocketing Athena's phone and crossing his arms, the paramedic said, "Can you talk to him like that? He is Haru Akiyama..."
