Week 7
When I finally woke up, I wasn't in my room anymore — or even inside my own house. I was in a living room, with a TV playing softly and my head laying on a pillow on someone's lap. Two boys were talking, but I couldn't make it out at first as the pain took all of my focus. I winced as I moved to rub the sleep out of my eyes, alerting them to my presence.
"Athena," Osorō's voice called, attracting my attention. It was then I realized I was inside Osorō's house, with my head on his lap. His expression was full of worry and concern. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."
His voice cracked, and it was then I realized he was holding back tears. Osorō... crying? It wasn't a sight I ever thought I'd see.
I reached up a hand to brush my thumb underneath his eyes. "It's... it's okay," I managed. "I'm okay."
"You're not okay," Osorō argued. "Have you seen the condition you're in?"
"Yeah, sis," Aru's voice called, too. "I found you passed out in your room. I had to pack your stuff for you... do you know how awkward it was, packing your clothes?"
"Okay, enough," I warned him. "Fine. I'm not okay."
The boys looked at each other before Aru whispered, "Dad disowned you... he told me you weren't allowed to come home until you started acting right." He made air quotes around the word acting.
I sighed. "I guess I'm not an Akiyama anymore, then."
"No. He even told me I was the heir of his company now..."
"Wow. So he's dead serious."
"Afraid so, sis."
Osorō glanced between us and interjected, "But hey, doesn't that mean you can just be your own person now? Without your father controlling you?"
I managed to shrug. "I guess? I don't know."
"I'm not going home without you, though," Aru swore. "If you're disowned, then so am I."
"Don't be ridiculous, Aru," I said, scoffing. "How will you have the power to help me if you're also disowned?"
He sighed. "You've got a point there. Fine. But I'm staying the night at least." He looked at Osorō to check if that was okay, and he nodded to say that it was.
"I'll get some blankets for ya in a sec," Osorō said, smoothening my hair in a comforting way. Then, he changed the channel to a Friends rerun, silently guessing right that I wanted a comfort show. Remembering something, he added, "Actually, that basket has some blankets. Grab a few, will ya?"
Aru nodded and stood to grab some blankets, giving one to Osorō, who wrapped it around me carefully. I smiled, appreciating the sweet gesture as I focused on the show, watching the chaos of Friends unfold.
The three of us laughed together as we watched the show, joking and bantering amongst ourselves. Eventually, Aru fell asleep, leaving just me and Osorō awake.
"I'm... really sorry, Athena," Osorō said, biting his lip. "I promised you I'd protect you, but I couldn't protect you from your own father."
"It's fine, I'm still alive... that's what matters, right?" I asked him. He nodded, so I continued, "I'm here now. We're both suspended for the rest of the week, anyway, so you'll be able to help me until next Monday, won't you?"
"Of course," he said without a moment's hesitation. "You can stay as long as you need. As long as you want."
"Okay, thank you." I bit my lip, looking at him from underneath my eyelashes. "Can you... can you kiss me?" I whispered.
Osorō smiled. "Of course, doll."
He leaned down to kiss me, leaving a lingering kiss on my lips. His lips were soft, but also faintly salty, like he'd been eating potato chips moments ago. My hand reached up to cup his cheek, pulling him slightly closer to kiss him more.
Then, he pulled away and said, "You should get some rest, okay?"
"Alright," I mumbled, already feeling tired as Osorō shifted beneath me, laying down and carefully pulling me on top of him, then readjusting the blanket to cover both of us. My eyes grew heavy as he wrapped his arms around me...
