Week 4 (Weekend)
That Sunday was not a fun day, to say the least.
With my reward fully given forward and now out of the way, my father had no reason to feel guilty for ruining my Sunday morning — had no reason to continue holding back his frustrations with me from the week before.
My ringtone woke me up that morning, but before I was even awake enough to answer or see who was calling me, the door to my room slammed open as my father burst in. "Get your lazy ass out of bed this instant."
He didn't even give me a chance to get up. He just stormed over and dragged me out of bed by the ear, slamming me to the floor. I yelped as my side erupted in pain. "I send you to the most prestigious school in possibly all of Japan, and what sort of friends have you been making there?!"
I blinked. "What?"
"Those purple-haired idiots are understandable since they're members of your club, but an occult freak and a delinquent leader?!"
Oh god. Father was absolutely livid.
"Father, I—!"
Thud!
His foot made contact with my stomach, kicking me hard enough to send me tumbling back a few paces. I clutched my stomach and coughed painfully.
"You think I haven't been keeping tabs on you at school, either?" he growled. "I know your daily schedule! I know who you see, who you talk to, who you hang out with, and especially who you choose to date. I know everything!"
He kicked me again, and I was unable to respond through a fit of coughs, and my eyes went wide at the sight of blood on the carpet. I was coughing up blood.
"The best thing you've done at that school so far is being associated with likable people, such as your drama club and that sports club leader. Even your self-centered club leader or that sweet-tongued cooking club president would suit you much better than some delinquent!"
He shoved a newspaper in my face, making sure the front headline and photo were the first things I saw: a photograph of Osorō, holding my hand and giving me that beautiful bouquet. It really was a beautiful photo, captured at the perfect moment when we were both smiling brightly, and they'd actually caught me when I blinked, which somehow made the photo more lovely.
Only, I could see what had Father pissed off since he knew Osorō was a delinquent. The caption.
Athena Akiyama and her Mysterious Suitor: Everything you need to know about this unlikely pair from last night's lavish party!
Oh, dear.
Quickly skimming the page while it was still in my face proved that my father didn't learn about Osorō's delinquency from this newspaper article — which didn't even name him, and simply presumed that he may be a classmate of mine; which also meant they hadn't seen us kissing outside the venue, since it mentioned nothing of it. This proved that Father really was keeping tabs on me through the school, who would of course know about Osorō and his gang and report to him if I was seen with him.
But I was so careful at school... how did he find out?
"How did I find out, right?" he demanded, seeming to read my mind. He scoffed, and spat, "If you were really trying to be sly, you didn't do such a good job at it. Your teachers report everything to me when I call, and it's evident that there's more to your friendship with this juvenile ruffian."
