Some Story Excerpts

Hi guys! Friday's update is still coming as planned, but I wanted to share an excerpt (or two) from some story ideas I've been toying with recently.

The first is from "The Amethyst Princess," which I've told you all a little bit about already. Here is the description:

Princess Lily (Lilian) Marie-Elizabeth Virelle is... not your typical princess. She has spent the last ten years locked inside the castle, longing and yearning to rejoin civilization. But... what she doesn't know is that she's the Amethyst Princess of Prophecy, destined to save the world from the demons of Ashvale - or die trying. With the help of Ichirro Nortale, the Silver Sorcerer, and his silver Cheshire-like cat familiar, Tofi, will Princess Lily be able to save the main world from being consumed by Ashvale's demons?

(For visual references, Princess Lily has strawberry blonde wavy hair and amethyst purple eyes. For following-along purposes, Keylei is Princess Lily's secret girlfriend, who is also her personal/head maid.)

"The Amethyst Princess" Excerpt

The next day was the day before my eighteenth birthday. I begged for a birthday party, but my father repeatedly said no and that he would tell me why today.

Begrudgingly, I made my way to Father's study, where his personal assistant and bodyguard were in the room with him. After my fight with Keylei, I was pretty deadpan and maybe even angry or defiant-looking, and because of that, my father glared at me when he looked my way. Upon my entry, he dismissed his assistant after taking a moment to scowl at me.

"Umm... what's going on, Dad?" I asked, wiping my clammy hands on the fabric of my elegant pink and golden gown. Father always made me nervous when he was upset.

"You don't even realize the dangers that lie ahead of you," he said, "the dangers that come with that blasted amethyst eye color of yours!"

I rolled my eyes. "Dad, not this again. What are you even talking about?"

"You are completely unaware of the dangers that lie in wait!"

"What dangers?!" I shouted back, cracking. I was tired of him constantly telling me I was in danger, but never telling me why that was the case. "Our kingdom is better than ever! We are thriving and wealthy, living in an era of peace and prosperity! Even our poorest commoners are thriving! What. Dangers?!"

My father was silent for a long while, sitting at his desk and staring at me. Before I could open my mouth to repeat my question, Father stood and said, "It's time I told you... the prophecy of the Amethyst Princess."

"The what?" I huffed.

He silently unfurled a scroll and handed it to me, urging me to read. With furrowed eyebrows, and a slight pout on my lips, I took the scroll from him and began to read:

A princess born with eyes of stone -

Amethyst fire, carved alone.

When eighteen dawns upon her brow,

The power lost shall rise somehow.

But as her gift begins to shine,

So too shall demons cross the line.
