Frank came back eventually. I had no idea how much time had passed. "I'm afraid I have more bad news. Your parents were rushed to the hospital, but it was too late. They wanted me to tell you guys that you can't go back or have a funeral for them until all of the Hybrid Hunters have been caught." There was a deep fury in me along with the sorrow. I made eye contact with Frank. He seemed to be surprised by the determination in my eyes. "I suppose we will just have to help catch the Hybrid Hunters then." He shook his head. "Please, stay here. I will do everything in my power to catch them. I might be the only officer on the force with magic, but I definitely have friends that will support me." Jamie's head snapped up. "It is not up for debate." He crouched down and looked at us sternly. "Just take some time. Let your friends comfort you. An insatiable desire for revenge could get you killed too." That struck a nerve. Neither Jamie nor I were satisfied, but we agreed anyway. He left. As soon as we walked back to where our friends were waiting, we burst into tears again. We collapsed into the grass. Merely seconds after I hit the ground, Thomas was there, holding me in his arms. Everyone looked confused but Jake. He knew there was only one thing this could mean. "Jamie, Ella... I hope you know that your parents' death has torn my heart out too." Then he was also on the ground, sobbing with me and Jamie. People began to crowd. I started breathing even heavier. "What is-" A random student started. He was holding up his phone, clearly recording. Christopher's glare was deathly. "Stop recording now! You heartless piece of shit." The student looked surprised. "Sorry man, I didn't know-" Christopher cut him off again. "Leave!" The students ran off. We stayed like that for a while; Jamie and Jake hugging. Me and Thomas hugging. Christopher, Amelia, and Lilly making sure everyone left us alone. I appreciated the support of my friends. Still, I had revenge on my mind. Everything we had done to Jeff would be childish pranks compared to what we would do to the Hybrid Hunters. I would make sure that they hurt more than I did. I would take everything away from them. No. No, Ella. You need to be better than them. Don't prove them right. If you kill them, they still win. You need to be a spokesperson for everyone with magic. Inspire them. Give them courage to fight back. Help them show the world that we deserve respect, not hatred. That we are no less or more important than others. That all we want is to live in peace. That is your mission.
