Chapter 16// Mistakes

Simon was still sitting on his bed. Alice hadn't said a word since he confessed his love for her. She froze.

"Alice?" Simon asked, staring down at his bloody arms.

"Simon..." She came back to reality, and realized Simon was still bleeding. She needed to take care of that before she focused on anything else.

She ran into their shared bathroom and grabbed a washcloth. She put water on it and grabbed some bandages before sprinting back to Simons room.

She sat next to him on the bed and began to wipe down his arms. He tensed up for a few seconds, then relaxed. He was in pain.

"Does it hurt?"

"Yeah... It stings."

"It's gonna do that for a few days, don't worry. Eventually the pain will stop." Alice unwrapped a bandage.

"How do you know so much about this?" Simon flinched.

"I-I did it myself." She pointed to the three razor scars on her wrist.

"Oh, why?"

"Because my dad was leaving, my mom started drinking, and Josh left. I was depressed. It helped take the pain away." Alice sighed as she placed a final bandage on his arm, "Never do this again. It's not worth it." Alice stood up. Simon grabbed her wrist and sat her back down.

"Alice?"

"What Simon?" Alice placed a hand on her forehead. She was worn out.

"I love you, a-and I don't think I can handle you being with Vik anymore."

"Look, Simon. You had your chance. I liked you. But now I-"

"You liked me?" Simon sighed.

"Yeah-when I first got here. I loved you. Then you screamed at me and told me not to talk to you anymore. That ruined it for me." Alice explained.

"I ruin everything." Simon's face changed. He looked mad. Not at Alice, of course, at himself.

"Look, I need to go see if Josh is okay. I'll talk to you later..." Alice stood up again, and this time, Simon didn't stop her.

She shut the door behind her and ran down the steps. She just wanted to curl up in bed and cry, it seemed like the only option.

She knocked on Josh's door, but he didn't answer. He was probably asleep, so she didn't disturb him. It'd been a long night for the both of them.

She made her way back to her room, and fell onto her bed, scrolling through her phone notifications. Vik had texted her tons.

Vik;
Same to you, Alice.

Vik;
Alice?

Vik;
Did you fall asleep?

Vik;
I guess you did

Vik;
Well, goodnight princess.

Alice;
No, I'm not asleep. Simon slit his wrists so I had to take care of it.

Vik;
OMG IS HE OKAY?

Alice;
Yeah, he should be fine.

Vik;
Why would he do such a thing?!

Alice;
Because he loves me.

Vik;
Oh.

Alice;
It's okay, I'd never leave you. I love you.
