Chapter 28: The Wind Rises

The Cleanse came again like it always did in the few centuries. And where there was ruins, there was scraps to be collected. Every Hellborn knew it was first come first serve.

This time---The first pickings belonged to a Sinner of a Hell---The head of a Yakuza group only known as The Black Lotus.

They had been looking through every debris trying to find angelic weapons, not caring about the bodies of the Sinners that had been scattered about.

"Hurry it up!" The Boss said, "That bitch Carmilla will be here before long! Let's grab the goods before she gets the chance to!"

"Boss!" One of his men said, "There's a whole batch of angelic weapons here!"

"Well don't tell me that!" He said, "Go and grab them!"

The men went and did just that, as the boss supervised neither seemed to realize a strange portal open in the sky, followed by what looked to be strange colors of light scattering themselves through the city.

A beam of green crashed nearby, getting the attention of the Black Lotus. They soon went over to the crash site to see what had just landed. They looked within the crater and noticed a strange green stone that glowed eerily.

It looked to have a light green shade as if had been an emerald, as there had been a strange image along the base of the stone.

"Boss---" One of them said, "---What is it?"

The Boss soon smiled as he picked up the stone, "I don't know---But something tells me we have just found our ticket to changing the game."

The acid rain let up in about a few weeks as the people could finally walk without fear of melting. Dream had enjoyed the moment outside with Alastor. After she found out Charlie had a garden protected by the acid rain she had enjoyed spending her time there.

From watering the plants to enjoying a cup of tea, which she had been enjoying right now as she looked to be practicing with her powers with Alastor's guidance. Arthur had enjoyed chasing the butterflies that had decided to visited the garden, without a care in the world.

Though as they had been enjoying themselves, they didn't realize that Jaxon, Vaggie and Charlie were in a surprise by a certain pair of siblings.

"You're staying here?" Jaxon said shocked, "At the hotel?"

"... Is that so surprising?" Rai said after a brief pause.

"Well---Yes---" Jaxon said still stunned, "---I know you're not against the hotel and what it stands for, but---You always told me you and your brother were fine with Zestial and redeeming yourselves in your own way."

"That may be so." Ikari said, "However--" He glanced over to Dream for a moment as she groaned in frustration, though Alastor patted her head in comfort, "---That changed when you brought her here. And with those powers she'll be more of a target then ever before when word gets out."

"And I doubt it'll take the whole staff to protect her. Even with the Radio Demon here, there's no telling what sort of horrors you'll face." Rai added before she bowed. "So we offer you our protection."

"You'd really offer that?" Charlie asked as she sparkled, "Aww, you two---!"

"Look we'd appreciate the gesture---" Vaggie said, "---But we've protected her before, we can do that easily."
