Fish cage (Boxton x Shrimpo)

I'm gonna be honest here, I like to hc that Shrimpo is good at everything to make up for his stats ☠️

Shrimpo was angry, he didn't even know why he was angry. He just was, usually to let off some steam he'd bang his head on a wall or something but he didn't feel like doing that today.

It's been awhile since he's baked something though, and the kitchen was empty for now. Maybe he could bake a cake? Or is that too simple? Whatever he'd decide when he got in there.

He decided to go with cupcakes, simple but good. Strawberry cupcakes don't sound bad either, he quickly got everything he needed. He had to hurry before someone caught him, nobody really knew he baked besides Toodles.

He has to bribe Toodles to keep her mouth shut, safe to say that Toodles has her own personal baker now. While he was focused, he didn't see a familiar purple box behind him.

"Shrimpo?"

He quickly turned around to see Boxton, he felt his face flush from embarrassment. His voice was caught in his throat, he didn't know what to say. "So.. what are you making..?"

"Strawberry cupcakes.."

For once, Shrimpo's voice was quiet, laced with embarrassment. He picked up the batter and slowly poured it into the cupcake pan, refusing to look at Boxton. He went to grab the vanilla frosting but quickly realized he forgot it.

"Anything I can help with?" Shrimpo thought about it for a second before sighing and deciding to reply.

"Yeah. Can you get me some more vanilla frosting.. please?"

Boxton looked shocked for a moment, he didn't expect him to answer and he definitely didn't expect him to say 'please'. He quickly ran off to get what Shrimpo requested, a new found motivation keeping him moving.

He quickly returned and saw Shrimpo leaning on the counter, he cleared his throat to get Shrimpo's attention and handed him the frosting. They both stood their in silence, both looking at each other but quickly turning away once they noticed. It was incredibly awkward but they both enjoyed the peace together, it was rare for them to have each other's company like this.

Eventually the cupcakes were ready, Shrimpo opened the oven and looked at them for awhile, some were flat while most were fluffy and round. Shrimpo smiled and pulled them out with his bare hands, Boxton just stared with concern.

After Shrimpo placed the pan on the counter, Boxton quickly went to grab Shrimpo's hands to examine them. Shrimpo gasped but let him do his thing, blush creeping upon his face but it wasn't from embarrassment this time.

"Your hands.. don't they hurt?"

In all honesty, they didn't. Shrimpo had been doing this for awhile and his hands were just immune at this point but Shrimpo wanted to hold Boxton's hands longer. So he lied.

"Y-yeah. I'm not sure why I did that.."

Boxton looked at him with a look that couldn't be determined, but it wasn't judgmental. "I'll go get some bandages, I think that'll help.. somehow.?" Boxton said it like he was more asking then telling Shrimpo.

Shrimpo nodded his head as Boxton left once more, while he was gone he quickly put the cupcakes in the refrigerator. He then began cleaning up the mess on the counter, tomorrow he'd have to wake up earlier so he can frost the cupcakes without getting caught.

He then heard scurrying feet and saw Boxton there once more, out of breath with bandages. He slightly smiled at the scene, he stuck out his hands and watched Boxton wrap them, sure, Shrimpo could have wrapped it himself but he didn't want to for some reason.

"Thank you." Shrimpo smiled and quickly looked away, you could clearly see his blush.

"You're welcome." Boxton was happy, this was the first time they had gotten along without some kind of argument. Maybe this was a pathway to friendship, or maybe something more—

His thoughts were cut off by Shrimpo hugging him and running away. His face quickly turned a dark shade of purple.

Looks like Shrimpo doesn't absolutely hate him, it's a start.
