That was a first, to feel rather awkward as you were now.
He took his sweet time to let your words sink in his skull, and probably think of many more things you wouldn't dare asking. In this silence where you both didn't know what to say, you decided to simply settle yourself. This way you'd be a bit comfortable.
Jacket and top went off, chest going bare aside from your sport bra, soon followed by the pants you threw perfectly at its designed chair, for your leggings to remain, embracing the curves of your legs.
All of your weapons, even the hidden ones, fell down with the rest.
The skeleton witnessed everything, frozen in his spot while you sat lazily on your bed, taking a pack of nicotine sticks you've kept inside of a drawer. Only once completely at ease you noticed his staring, and smirked a little at that. "What? Enjoying the view?"
It woke him up all of a sudden. A white dot appeared in one of his eyesockets, though he visibly didn't expect such thing out of you. "Eh, yeah. But why? Not that I mind." He pondered, coping with the fact you didn't care at all about his presence, despite what happened few hours ago. Being inhuman have made you more distant. This room was your nest after all, you could do whatever you wanted.
"Depends what you want." You replied casually. "Either talking or... What should I call it for ya? Bone-zoning? You're not really the first I allowed here, just the first to be a skeleton..." At this, your mind began working. It was a first for you to wonder what one night stands would be with a monster...
Quiet whistle escaped his teeth, not that you knew how. "Whoa. Guess I should be honored now."
You shrugged in response, nibbling at the stick. "I'm just doing this 'cause it's my place. Make yourself at home too if ya want, it's not a bother."
"Already do." He ended the discussion, taking out a knife from his pocket just to throw it at your personal target decorating the wall in front of your bed. On this old piece stood proudly a set of pictures of all the men you despised in the gang and life in general, bull's eye being the one who pretended to be your Soulmate back then.
Quite ironically, his aim went perfectly to this pic.
"Nice shot." you whispered, fiddling through your own knives stock for your turn. "Know that you got the one who pretended to be my Soulmate."
The look on his face would've definitely earn a laugh from you, if you weren't so focused into aiming for the same photography as well. Seeing it get hit a second time in a row, with that satisfying sound popping along, got your predatory side running a bit again. That felt nice and you needed that.
"So this guy tried to be me..." He mused, seemingly amused, yet you realized he was also sincerely irritated.
Needless to say it comforted you into the idea this monster as your Soulmate. "Already said it I think- but I killed that guy a while ago."
For a moment silent after your words, he watched the picture getting ripped into pieces by your perfect throws, until there was too many knives at the same place, the man couldn't be seen anymore. "Good then." He whispered. You almost jumped as you weren't ready to hear him speak. "Wouldn't have liked someone taking my identity for free."
To that, you could only nod in understanding. Nicknames for a hitman was more than just a random word to add to the list. It was often taken as a way to describe many things of your life. Either mistakes you've made, or the path you chose at the beginning of your career.
In your case, blackbirds were seen as bad omens, despite their small size. Judging what and how you lost everything, it appeared fit. Plus you liked them.
