Days later Holden and I were back at his favorite park after we'd spent countless of rounds practice driving around our neighborhood. This time rather than sitting on the trunk of his truck we got to explore more of the park and I wasn't surprised to see it was way more beautiful than it looked from the outside view. It was more enormous than I had expected it to be.

We had set up a blanket down in the soft grass and then we decided last minute to bring out our bibles to read them together. Anyone could already imagine how excited I was when we decided to have a small bible study together. "I'm assuming you understand much more of it?" I asked, keeping in mind that he basically had more experience in reading the old type of english from all those classic books he read.

"My mom didn't understand much of it either so that is why she got a today's english version, so I got an out on this one," Holden said as he flipped the black bible on it's side to analyze it.

"See even your mom understands!" I raised my arms up in protest. I genuinely loved his mom so much even if she wasn't here on this earth with us. I wished I could hug her at least once and get to know the woman who brought this precious being in front of me onto this earth. Although very sarcastic and annoying at times.

"You both have little brains."

"I think you mean everyone has little brains because I guarantee you most people would agree with me." I raised my brows in defense, flipping my page open to the next section of Matthew.

"If you say so, Oakley."

"Your reading the New Testament, right?" I questioned.

"Matthew," he confirmed, nodding his head.

For the next twenty minutes we silently read and somewhere in between our silence I sneaked a glance over to Holden as he laid back on the trunk of the tree, intently scrolling through the lines of the book. Occasionally, he would write a few things down or highlight a few sentences. I was suddenly filled with interest to see what piece of scripture had caught his attention or what had he wrote along the margins. I wondered if there was any notes from his mom's observations anywhere in the book. I could guarantee a hundred percent there would be.

There had to be at least be plenty of scribbles and highlights on there.

Ok, I seriously needed to stop being a noisy brat.

"Interesting enough, I remember reading most of this and now I have very different perspective than before," Holden uttered a few minutes after as he placed the highlighter behind his ear. What was it with him placing pencils and other things behind his ear?

"You'd be surprised how many new things I noticed in the same book that I've read for the millionth time. Whenever I read a book for the third time, I always discover something I hadn't noticed before. I scoffed at the mention of it. It was fascinating, really. "But I love it because then it's like reading it for the first time again." Intrigued I was every time I discovered something new. Every time I made a new observation, I had the strong urgency to share it with someone, and that someone was either my parents or Braylee and Emily.
