Ponts Bénet squeezed harder and harder, his eyes bloodshot and bulging.

Lumean could barely speak; if not for his vision beginning to darken, he would surely have managed to say a feeble "thank you."

At that moment, a hand suddenly appeared from nowhere, grabbing Ponts Bénet by the hair at the back of his head, attempting to forcibly separate him from Lumean.

"What are you doing? Are you trying to kill him? Are you even human?" Shepherd Pierre Berry scolded Ponts Bénet sternly as he tried to stop him.

Ponts Bénet ignored him completely, his bloodshot eyes fixated solely on Lumean. His mind, consumed by rage and bloodlust, held only one thought: "Kill this bastard."

Smack!

Shepherd Pierre Berry raised his right leg and delivered a sharp kick to Ponts Bénet's groin with his brand-new leather shoes.

Ponts Bénet reflexively let go of his grip, clutching his groin and falling to the ground. He emitted a guttural, choking sound, his expression twisted in agony, resembling a rooster being strangled by the neck.

Shepherd Pierre Berry glanced at the fallen man, his expression calm as he said, "Once he recovers a bit, take Lumean to the altar. The ritual is about to begin." He then shifted his gaze back to Lumean, crouching down to check his condition.

When Lumean regained consciousness and slowly opened his eyes, the shepherd's face filled his view. As the darkness in his vision was gradually replaced by light, and the pain in his neck became more pronounced, Lumean was disappointed to find that what he saw was not the familiar ceiling of his bedroom, but the face of Shepherd Pierre Berry, marked with blood and scratches.

"I'm not dead yet!" he thought instinctively. Turning his head, he saw Ponts Bénet curled up on the ground and muttered disdainfully, "Pathetic!"

"Can't handle women, can't even kill a man. What's the point of your existence?"

Ponts Bénet felt a surge of anger shoot straight to his head. If it weren't for the lingering pain in his groin and the fact that Shepherd Pierre Berry was watching, he would have surely lost control again.

Lumean and Aurora's house, now dilapidated with half the roof missing.

Under the scattered moonlight and starlight from above, Ryan, Leah, and Valentine sneaked back to the house.

After confirming that there was no one around, Ryan turned to Leah and said, "Tonight's situation seems even more dire than we imagined. You should do a divination."

On the way from the edge of Cordu Village to Lumean's house, they had discovered that every single house was empty; no one was inside, and it was unclear where they had gone.

This was a frightening anomaly!

"Okay," Leah nodded.

Before she could take out her paper and pen to write down the divination phrases, Ryan reminded her again, "Be very careful, choose the direction of the divination wisely, and avoid attempting anything that feels too dangerous."

"I understand," Leah, who was quite experienced in this area, knew that in a dangerous and abnormal place like Cordu Village, a slight mistake in the direction of the divination could result in severe harm, even leading to losing control on the spot.

She pondered for a few seconds and then entered Aurora's room, which was adjacent to the corridor and no longer had any walls. She found a manuscript to use.

While Leah was writing the divination phrases, Ryan and Valentine walked into Lumean's room, which had been their sleeping quarters.

Ryan's brown-yellow suitcase was still sitting by the window, completely hidden by the curtain.
