Gabriel took a sip of absinthe and said, "Maip. Mayer.""He's an ambitious theater manager who wants to make the Old Pigeon Coop the most famous monthly theater in Trier, aiming to achieve such success that he'll be awarded the Intis Legion of Honor medal."
The Intis Legion of Honor was first established during the time when Emperor Roselle was still a consul. It was created to replace the old royal system of knighthood titles. Later, when Roselle declared himself "Caesar," he abolished it, reinstating the system of dukes, counts, barons, and knights.
After the establishment of the Intis Republic, the Legion of Honor was reintroduced, awarded to soldiers and civilians who made outstanding contributions to the republic. It wasn't limited to the military field but extended to all industries, and it remains the highest honor in the Intis Republic today, with each recipient being the equivalent of a knight from the old era.
Many painters, writers, actors, journalists, and sculptors have received the Legion of Honor, setting a great example for those who followed.
When Lumian made up stories in his dreams, fooling the villagers of Cordu by claiming that Aurore was going to Trier to receive the Legion of Honor, it wasn't entirely unfounded. If Aurore could become the "Fors Wall" of Intis, one of the top-selling authors in the entire Northern Continent, and gain some recognition from the Intis Academy of Arts for her artistic achievements, she would indeed have a chance to compete for the Legion of Honor.
"If a person doesn't have dreams, how are they any different from a salted fish?" Lumian chuckled, thinking that the theater manager, Maip Mayer, seemed quite normal.
This led him to believe that the problem with the Old Pigeon Coop Theater wasn't with most people, but likely only involved one or a few individuals who were closely connected to the landlord of the Golden Rooster Inn, Mr. Ev.
After a brief chat with Gabriel, Lumian led Louis and Sacota upstairs, leaving them outside Room 207.
He closed the door behind him, strapped the holster under his left arm, hid the bullet pouch, and then threw on a dark jacket.
Next, Lumian took Mr. K's finger from under the pillow and slipped it into his right pocket.
As for the "Corrupted Mercury," the dagger from Headhesi, the stimulant gas that could help clear one's mind, and the mysterious liquid of unknown use, he always carried those with him. The trident bayonet, on the other hand, wasn't needed for the time being and was left in the desk drawer.
After finishing all of this, Lumian bent down, pulled out a brown suitcase from under the bed, and put all of Aurore's witchcraft notes into it.
With his changed identity and further conflict with the Poisonous Thorn Gang, he felt it necessary to move these witchcraft notes to a safer and more concealed location, namely the safehouse he rented on White Coat Street.
For Lumian, these items held dual importance: first, as clues and knowledge left behind by Aurore, and second, as irreplaceable keepsakes that needed careful protection.
For his daily studies, Lumian planned to transcribe portions of the notes to either the Golden Rooster Inn or the Breeze Ballroom in advance. Once he had fully mastered the content and confirmed it was problem-free, he would then head to the safehouse and copy a few more pages.
After declining Louis' offer to carry the luggage, Lumian returned to the Breeze Ballroom and entered the room near the office.
He took out the witchcraft notebook he had been reading recently, spread it open on the desk, picked up a dark red fountain pen, and began transcribing on a thick stack of white paper.
