Lumian was quite candid as he recounted his experience of hiding in the underground Trier, while exuding an aura of disgust and loathing, and encountering Jenna.Franka, feeling slightly awkward, shifted the topic with a smile, "How could you make people feel disgust and loathing? You haven't lost control."
She had encountered several Extraordinary beings of the "Hunter" pathway losing control, and most of them exhibited traits that provoked hatred from those around them. That was the primary reason they were quickly eliminated.
Lumian explained briefly, "I got hold of a sealed artifact. Its negative effect is that, an hour after taking it off, I become revolting and repulsive to others."
"What if you don't take it off?" Jenna asked curiously. Lumian's lips curled into a smile, "Then it quickly becomes a kind of alarm, constantly attracting nearby official Extraordinary beings to capture me."
"It really likes drawing attention," Franka teased with a laugh.
Tony Ray shook his head quickly, while Guilan Meng let out a chuckle.
After a brief exchange, Franka opened the wooden box she was holding and took out another container from inside.
As they descended the stairs, Tony Ray spotted an informant, Anthony Reed, coming up with a suitcase.
Jenna scrutinized it for a few seconds and then nodded heavily, "You really hate using people, especially when it harms us and causes damage, unless there's no other option. In that case, no one should be sacrificed."
Guilan Meng and Guilan glanced at each other, momentarily speechless and shocked.
Tony Ray nodded, roughly understanding why Jenna was suddenly in trouble.
"You've only got a hundred, a measly ten gold felkins. Even five hundred isn't that much bad, is it?" Jenna replied irritably. "Besides, you don't have any money right now."
"How much more do you need?" Franka asked, eyes widening as she tried to offer help.
"You can't rush it. First, adjust your condition properly. Although you haven't digested the 'Assassin' potion, considering the recent circumstances, drinking the 'Instigator' potion now would result in a very high probability of losing control. If there's a better way to avoid that, why not take it? Reducing the chance of losing control to a negligible level is the safer bet, isn't it?"
Jenna sighed and sat down on the sofa, closing her eyes to adjust her breathing rhythm.
"The Sequence 7 'Briber' and Sequence 6 'Corrupt Countess' correspond to the 'White Emperor' pathway. It seems like a 'Corrupt Countess' died, and her Extraordinary characteristics combined with something in her environment to create this sealed artifact, perfectly reflecting its innate abilities."
"Seek opportunities for 'arson' to start digesting the potion."
This way, I could receive the blessing of the 'Contractee' and gain the ability to acquire the powers of other creatures through contracts.
"Does that mean there's nothing left to do in the market district?"
"Once, there was this fellow who always said, 'We need to stick together to outcompete others for food.' But when you all started fighting for the food, I took advantage of the chaos and ran off with it."
"Arson... does she have any thoughts?" Jenna sat cross-legged on the armchair.
"The trail has gone cold," Anthony Reed sighed heavily.
"Is he trying to provoke you? You're not that naive, are you?"
Tony Ray had only ever seen a similar sense of conflict in one other person — his sister, Aurore.
