Upon hearing Franca mention the topic of promotion, Lumian suddenly realized it was time to start making some preparations. It wasn't that he didn't want to become a Sequence 7 "Pyromaniac" and truly master enough mystical abilities. However, the potion formulas for "Hunter" and "Provocateur" had come too easily, gifts from Madame "Magician." As a result, he hadn't felt any urgency. He had been waiting for the "Provocateur" potion to fully digest, planning to then write to Madame "Magician" to see what price he needed to pay for all the items required for promotion. More importantly, Lumian knew Madame "Magician" had a "Pyromaniac" Beyonder characteristic, but upon further thought, he realized he still needed to make additional preparations: Madame "Magician" likely didn't belong to the "Hunter" pathway and might not even have the "Pyromaniac" potion formula. As for the Beyonder characteristic, she may have already given it to someone else.
After all, Lumian wasn't the only one who had drawn an Arcana card, and it was unlikely they were all from the same pathway.
Of course, given the status and abilities Madame "Magician" had displayed, obtaining the "Pyromaniac" potion formula and the corresponding main ingredients wouldn't be too difficult for her. However, she might not be willing, or it could take a long time.
As these thoughts raced through his mind, Lumian glanced at the wooden box resting on Franca's lap, hesitated for a moment, and said, "Let's sell it."
Although the evil scythe was incredibly sharp and could draw life from its enemies through blood, making it well-suited to his close combat style, it was too inconvenient to carry and couldn't be concealed, severely limiting its use. Most of the time, it had to be stored at the Breeze Ballroom or the Golden Rooster Hotel, only to be used if someone attacked him or during premeditated ambushes, where it could be pulled out and hidden in the darkness. If Lumian wanted to carry it with him constantly, the only solution he could think of was putting it in a cello case and slinging it on his back, but that would be extremely suspicious for a gang leader.
If Franca hadn't mentioned preparing for promotion, Lumian wouldn't have been so worried about the 4,000 filkin he currently had, though he now realized he needed to gather more funds. He didn't mind keeping the sinister scythe, "Harvest Feast," as it could still be useful in certain situations. If push came to shove, Lumian could use the "Peeping Glasses" to disguise himself as a musician, carrying a "cello" to assassinate his target.
Franca sighed upon hearing his decision. "We have to sell it. It's really good, but it doesn't fit my combat style." She then pointed to the potions Lumian had on his waist. "How about we each take one bottle of those potions?"
Franca wasn't too interested in the "Rage Potion" or the "Bark Potion"; she only wanted the "Scorpion Venom" and the "Healing Potion." However, considering Lumian also needed to poison his weapons and heal himself, she opted for a more balanced distribution.
"Alright," Lumian agreed.
Outside 126 Market Avenue, a group of policemen in black uniforms had set up a cordon to prevent passersby from approaching the building behind them.
Inside the house, the blond, golden-bearded Angoulême de François stood before a sculpture of a soft-featured woman, silently staring at the blood-red words on the wall. His chest adorned with golden buttons, he remained speechless, casting an oppressive silence over the "Purifiers" and assisting policemen around him.
After a while, a "Purifier" of Southern Continent descent emerged from the basement and approached Angoulême, speaking in a low voice, "Deacon, there are clear signs of an evil god ritual in the underground area, along with several human sacrifices. Some of the prisoners escaped, but those left behind confirmed that Black Scorpion Roger was indeed practicing evil magic."
