FIVE MONTHS HAD PASSED, and Lilia Conway tried to settle into her old life, but everything felt different now. The homes in the Victors Village were much larger, and the rooms were too spacious, too empty. Her parents had decided to stay at her old house, since it was a mere two minute walk to the boat docks. But, Lilia didn't mind. They visited often.

During the day, she tried to engage herself in things she liked to do. She'd go swimming with Finnick or go for long walks on the beach. Sometimes she'd even read to try to get her mind off of things.

But, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't keep the memories from resurfacing.

Each morning, she woke up drenched in sweat, her heart pounding as if she were still sprinting toward the Cornucopia. The nightmares always brought her back there. It brought her back to the Games.

Now early September, Lilia had gotten back into the groove of things. The day was bright, not a cloud in the sky, and she could hear Mags humming softly on the patio, while Annie was tending to her garden. Stepping out of her house, Lilia made her way over to the two.

"You're getting good at this gardening stuff," Lilia spoke up.

Annie looked up, a gentle smile forming, "Mags taught me well. How are you feeling about tonight?"

Tonight. The Victory Tour. The interviews.

"Oh, right, that's today," Lilia sighed. "It'll be okay, nothing I can't handle."

"Lilia!"

At the sound of her name, Lilia turned, watching as Maya Holloway hurried up the path toward the village. Her dark brown curls bounced with each step, her expression beaming with excitement.

"Maya!" she called back. "I didn't know you were coming today."

She met her friend halfway, and they embraced in a tight hug, the kind of hug that Lilia needed. Unfortunately, she hadn't been able to see Maya as much as she would've liked because she was still in school.

"I wanted to surprise you," Maya said, pulling back to look at Lilia. "Since this is your last day here before the big tour."

"Don't remind me," Lilia sighed with a laugh.

The two girls spent the afternoon together, falling back into their old ways, as if no time had passed at all. They went swimming in the ocean, made fresh-squeezed lemonade, and talked about old times.
