——☆ FIRE ON FIRE
chapter forty-seven: 76th hunger games
AS THE STAR SQUAD moved through the empty streets of the Capitol, their eyes carefully scanned the landscape. Buildings towered above them, but their structures were crumbled and torn. It was nothing like what Lilia Conway had remembered. The once extravagant atmosphere of the city was now a wasteland."Alright, I want a shot of them right here," Cressida spoke, angling her hands.
The four victors listened intently as Cressida gave them instructions. Katniss Everdeen, the rebel princess, stood beside Finnick Odair, the once beloved Captiol favorite. Beside them stood Lilia and Cato, the forbidden lovers and the fiercest fighters from the Games.
Cressida adjusted her camera, motioning forward. "There's a pod nearby. I want to film you approaching it."
The group nodded and followed her instructions.
"The 76th Hunger Games," Lilia spoke, gripping her assault rifle in her hand. "They sure know what they're doing."
"This is going to be easy," Cato smirked, stepping confidently beside her.
"Just be ready for whatever they throw at us," Katniss replied, shaking her head. "You can show off later."
"Show off, huh?" Cato asked.
Finnick chuckled, adjusting the grip on his gun. "I'd listen to her, Cato. No need to get blown up for a good shot."
Cato rolled his eyes but didn't argue. The four of them moved together as they stepped toward the pod's location, which was cleverly hidden among the rubble of the Capitol streets. It was the perfect place for a trap.
The directors followed behind them, cameras rolling to capture every moment.
"Keep it natural, just do what you'd normally do," Cressida whispered into her mic.
The group nodded and spread out. The pod itself was invisible, but the holo revealed that it was placed between two collapsed pillars that had fallen onto each other. Finnick held up a hand, signaling for the others to stop.
"Pod's up ahead," Finnick whispered.
Lilia raised her weapon, eyes narrowing as she searched the area. "What kind of pod is it?"
"Can't tell from here," Finnick replied, shrugging. "Could be anything."
Cato stepped closer, his gun ready. But, before he could get too close, Finnick grabbed his arm.
"Hold on," Finnick warned. "We trigger this wrong, we're all dead."
Cato glanced at him, then at the pod, and nodded. The boy stepped back, allowing the others to situate themselves.
