STANDING BY THE CHARIOT, Lilia gently patted the horses, waiting for the parade to begin. She could hear the voices of the crowd outside, the Capitol citizens eager for the them to appear. The girl was dressed in a navy blue outfit that sparkled like the ocean under the stars, paired with star-shaped earrings.

The girl glanced at Finnick, already dressed in a similar navy outfit that matched the ocean theme, with gold and silver streaks highlighting his cheekbones.

"Breathtaking as always, Lilia," Finnick spoke, reaching in and pulling her into a small hug.

Giving him a small squeeze, Lilia released him and replied, "Vayda knows how to dress me well."

"She sure does," Finnick spoke, eyeing the girl from District 12. "I'm going to go see how Katniss is doing."

"Katniss? What for?" Lilia asked.

Finnick shrugged it off. "It'll be quick, I promise."

With a nod, Lilia watched as he departed from her, leaving her alone. Scanning the area, her eyes soon found Cato, his body towering over the other tributes as he adjusted the last pieces of his outfit.

Without thinking, she stepped away from the chariot, making her way to him.

As she approached, Cato turned to face her, his blue eyes locking with hers. The Capitol attendants watched them closely, the narrative of their "forbidden romance" already spinning in their minds.

"Hey handsome," Lilia teased.

Scanning her up and down, the boy in front of her couldn't help but reach out and grab her, pulling her in close.

"My god, you're gorgeous," Cato whispered, his thumb brushing lightly across her cheek.

There was something protective in the way he looked at her, something that made her feel safe. And before she could say anything, his lips were on hers. Lilia kissed him back, her hand resting against his chest as the area around her began to blur.

This is the first time he had truly kissed her in public, and the thought alone made her heart skip a beat.

After pulling away, Cato stepped back, slipping the mask of ruthless Career back on. It was kind of scary, how quickly he was able to do that.

"I'll see you after," he muttered, his voice just loud enough for the nearby eavesdroppers to hear.

Lilia nodded, giving him one last kiss before walking back to her chariot. As she climbed up beside Finnick, she felt the eyes of the Capitol on her, fussing about the latest news in their love story.
