AFTER THE TRIBUTE INTERVIEWS finished, it seemed as though the entire Capitol was rioting against the Games. Absolutely no one wanted to watch their favorite Victors die in the arena. However, word was announced shortly after that the Games would continue as planned, and the tributes attempts to stop them had failed.

"One minute to launch," the voice on the intercom announced. "One minute."

Lilia stood in the launch room as her stylist zipped her into a sleek, black wetsuit. The fabric was tight on her skin, hugging her figure.

"Alright," Vayda said, forcing a smile. "You're all set."

Lilia tried to joke with her, though her lips barely moved. "Looks like we're going swimming. Lucky me."

With a forced smile, the stylist pulled Lilia into a tight embrace, and she inhaled the faint citrus perfume scent.

"You're going to be okay, Lilia."

The girl closed her eyes, holding onto the moment, then stepped back, putting on a brave face. With a deep breath, she onto the pedestal, just as the countdown ended.

As she rose into the arena, her eyes blinked to adjust to the bright light. When her vision returned, the girl immediately took in the scene. She was surrounded by water. Ocean water. It smelled of salt, Lilia instantly recognized its familiarity.

A massive hologram hovered above, counting down the seconds. Ahead of her sat a center island where the Cornucopia stood, glowing in the sunlight. A circle of sand surrounded it, and beyond that, a jungle.

Then the voice of Claudius Templesmith echoed through the sky, "Let the 75th Hunger Games begin!"

The cannon fired, and without hesitation, Lilia dove into the water. Her arms moved through the waves with ease. Years of growing up by the ocean had made her one of the strongest swimmers in the arena.

Only Finnick Odair was able to keep up with her, and the two of them reached the Cornucopia before anyone else.

"Suprise, suprise," Finnick breathed, wiping the water off his eyes. "Think they made this arena in our favor?"

"Must have," Lilia replied.

"Well, while we've got a few minutes," Finnick said, gesturing to the empty Cornucopia. "Take everything you can."

With a nod, Lilia grabbed a few knives and a sharp spear. As she looked behind her to check for an attack, she noticed half of the tributes were still trying to swim.

Then her eyes caught a glimpse of a shining gold trident hidden behind one of the rocks.

"Finnick," Lilia called, grabbing the trident and tossing it in his direction.
