THE NEXT DAY, the dimly lit atmosphere in District Thirteen had been transformed into beautiful space for Finnick Odair and Annie Cresta's wedding. Strings of fairy lights hung overhead, and they were surrounded by grass and greenery. The room was crowded with soldiers, victors, and rebels who sat together in chairs, waiting for the ceremony to begin.

After learning that Annie Cresta was rescued from District 4 mere days before her family was executed, Lilia felt a wave of grief return. Days. Days that they could have rescued her family and brought them to safety. However, she knew that being angry with the people who rescued her would be pointless. She was glad that Annie was saved, especially since she was the one true love of her best friend.

At the head of the altar, Finnick Odair stood, dressed in a sharp, grey suit. Sitting in the front row, Lilia Conway locked her gaze with him for a brief moment, and the he sent the girl a wink.

"You look so handsome," Lilia mouthed to him with a smile.

"I know, right?" Finnick mouthed in reply, causing the girl to let out a silent laugh.

Sailboat rides, seafood dinners, walks on the beach, shell collecting, watching the sunsets, Finnick had been there through it all. Lilia couldn't believe it, the boy she had grown up with, who had become an older brother to her, was getting married.

Seated beside her, Cato Hadley leaned down and whispered, "You know, I have a feeling it's going to be you and me next."

Lilia raised an eyebrow. "Is that so?"

With a smirk, Cato returned upright and replied, "Just you wait."

Music started to play, and the entire atmosphere grew quiet. Finnick's eyes were locked on Annie as she walked down the aisle in an elegant white gown with lace trim. She looked so beautiful, her eyes filled with a love so pure it made Lilia's heart melt.

They were made for each other.

After ceremony finished, everyone spread out into the open area, dancing, laughing, and having a good time. Leaving Cato to chat with a few other soldiers, Lilia approached the two newlyweds, standing in the center of a small crowd.

"Finnick, Annie," Lilia called. "I can't believe it. Congratulations."

"Thank you, Lilia," Annie replied.

There was a brief pause, and then Annie Cresta rushed forward and engulfed Lilia in a hug. There was a sadness in her voice as she whispered to the girl, "I'm so sorry about your parents and Maya, I wish I would have known-"

"It's okay, Annie," Lilia assured her, holding her tight. "It's not your fault."

It was true, it wasn't her fault. No one would have known that the Capitol would commit such an act, especially for the girl that everyone adored. But, after Lilia broke the script during the interview, there wasn't enough time to get them out of there before the Peacekeepers attacked.
