THE NEXT MORNING, at the first light of dawn, the squad prepared to move out. They organized their supplies in silence, tension filling the air as they thought about the dangers that lay ahead. The streets were quiet, as they always were, but the feeling that they were being watched continued to lurk over them.

"Let's move," Boggs commanded, his voice calm but firm. "We're headed five blocks north."

At the back of the group, Finnick unfolded a piece of paper, reading aloud the message they had planned to broadcast. "To the citizens of the Capitol, our war is not with you..."

Peeta, standing beside him, repeated, "To the citizens of the Capitol, our war is not with you."

"You will be a vital part of the democracy that follows our victory," Finnick continued.

Peeta echoed again, "Be a vital part of the democracy that follows our victory."

Finnick smiled. "You got it."

They moved quietly through the isolated streets, passing by the Capitol apartments that towered above them. Then, the group arrived at a large courtyard, with a large archway standing in its center.

"Okay, Boggs, this is a good spot," Cressida called, eyeing the courtyard. She framed her fingers into a square, picturing the perfect shot. "Through there, in the courtyard."

"Okay, let us clear it," Boggs replied, holding up his hand. "Got a pod. Take cover."

Nodding the group split into two and moved to either side of the archway. Lilia moved with Finnick and Cato, taking cover on the right side. Within a matter of seconds, machine guns spawned out of the walls and released thousands of rounds.

"This is awesome!" Finnick laughed, his voice barely audible over the gunfire.

"Knock it off," Lilia grinned, nudging him playfully.

Finnick's humor, even in moments like this, always caught her off guard.

After what felt like an eternity, the gunfire stopped and the weapons dropped to the ground.

"All clear," Boggs called, standing up and motioning for the others to join him. "Gale, Homes, with me. Leegs, take the wings."

As the group moved forward, Lilia and Cato trailed behind, their eyes scanning the courtyard for more hidden attacks. Then, without warning, a bomb went off, sending a massive cloud of debris into the air.

"Boggs!"

"Hold your position!"

"Boggs!"

Lilia felt like she was suspended in slow motion, her mind struggling to process what was happening. One of the Leeg sisters rushed to the other's side but made a fatal mistake, stepping on one of the stone tiles. Instantly, the walls around the courtyard began to close, sealing them in.
