THE OUTLINE OF THE MOUNTAINS appeared as they neared District Thirteen, the underground fortress hidden beneath the dark landscape. They had done it. They had successfully convinced District Two to join the rebellion, which was their the last step before infiltrating the Capitol. It was certainly a victory for the rebels, but the weight of it hadn't fully settled in yet.

Especially not for Cato.

The blonde boy stood at the back of the hovercraft next to Lilia, but his gaze remained focused on the floor for the entirety of the trip. There was a change in him since he spoke with the loyalists from District Two.

"Are you okay?" Lilia asked.

Cato nodded, but he didn't say a word.

After the hovercraft touched down on the landing pad, they stepped out onto the underground base of District Thirteen, feeling a wind of cold air rush past their faces. However, before they could return to their quarters, they were instructed to speak with President Coin.

Inside the briefing room, she stood at the head of the table, a small smile appearing on her tight lips as they entered.

"You've done well," President Coin said, rounding the table. "District Two has agreed to join the rebellion, thanks to your efforts. Now, we must move quickly if we are to attack while the Capitol is vulnerable."

Lilia exchanged a short glance with Cato. She had expected this after they're victory, but the pace at which Coin was moving felt incredibly fast. They had just returned, and now they were being thrown into the next phase of the war.

"I've handpicked a team," Coin continued, her eyes locking onto Lilia and Cato. "You two will be joining the elite Star Squad, a select infiltration unit that will be on-screen faces of the invasion. You'll be heading to the Capitol tomorrow night."

Lilia's breath hitched in her throat. The Capitol. Tomorrow night.

"Finnick Odair, Gale Hawthorne, Jackson, Boggs, Homes, Mitchell, and Leegs will also be part of this mission," Coin informed. "Your task will be to shoot propos for the Districts."

"That's it?" Cato asked bluntly, crossing his arms over his chest. "We're just going to be smiling for the cameras?"

"Oh, I assure you, you'll be doing much more than that," Coin replied. "You'll need to be ready for combat."

Lilia blinked, trying to process the words. She was no stranger to the Games, no stranger to combat, but this was different. This was war. Real war. And they were going to be thrown into the center of it.

President Coin dismissed them, and they walked in silence through the halls of District Thirteen. The others dispersed quickly, but when they arrived at their quarters, Lilia lingered outside the door for a moment.
