Chapter 11. "Girl your so random"

Important chapter for Reds character development :)

Reds pov

I opened another Pepsi max, and tried to focus on my homework. I was situated in the bed, with my homework in front of me, trying to make sense of all the numbers in front of me. I blasted high music in my AirPods and couldn't help but sing along.

Mom and Ella left last night, leaving me and Chloe alone again. It felt so good having mom here, I missed her more than I thought I would.

I was still in my anxious period, and I felt bad for not being able to tell Chloe what was going on with me. Ever since she talked to my mom she had been so respectful towards me, she allowed me to have my space, and if I wanted closeness she knew I would come to her, she didn't ask questions. She let me take it in my own pace.

My mood really changed, drastically. Today I woke up, pretty good. So good I started studying, while Chloe was out training with some friends.

When I finally felt done with maths I decided to move on to English. But soon I realized I forgot to go get my English book in the library.

In my pajamas I walked down to the library, to go get my book.

I was looking in the shelf for the English book when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
- Hi Red, you missed me?

My eyes widened.

- Omg hi Rob, I hugged him.
- I just wanted to tell you that you and Chloe make such a pretty couple. He said, smiling.

He was so mature, I thought. No guys our age was so accepting and nice. Even if my first impression of him was being a nasty party boy. Especially after those shots.

But he was actually the one that made me realize that I needed to tell Chloe how I felt, even if it was more than he thought.

- Thank you, I answered, smiling back.
- Soooo, are you lesbian? Or bi? Or? He asked.
- Ehm, I'm pretty sure I'm Bi actually, but Chloe's a lesbian tho.
- That's cool, actually my brothers Bi too, so I'm not homophobic, if you thought that. He assured.
- Oh, that's nice.

I didn't know what to say.

It was quiet for a minute until he spoke up.
- So you're looking for something special?
- Uhm, oh yeah! The English book, need to study you know. I chuckled.

He looked around in the shelf, finding the book at the top.

It was so high I couldn't reach.

- Wait, let me get that for you! He said, getting a small ladder climbing up.

He handed me de book and smiled.
- Thank you! I said, grabbing the book.
- No problem, you know that I'm here if you need a good friend around. He said, walking away.

I smiled to myself, did I just make one person want to stay in my life?

When Chloe walked through the door later that evening I was still studying. She greeted me, but not getting too close, since she didn't know what mood I was in.

I closed my book and walked right into her arms.

She was caught by surprise, but held me and leaned in to the touch.
- Chloe, I really really really love you. I whispered while being held in her tight arms.

I almost felt Chloe light up, like fire. And so did I. I wanted her, all of her, and suddenly the world wasn't black and white anymore. It was filled with colors.

- Can you please just come lay with me, I need to be near you, I whispered.
- If course my love, she said and placed a kiss on my forehead.

I felt like my life was slowly building itself up. I had my Chloe, and after the interaction with Rob it seemed like I had a friend too. I wasn't good at keeping those. I was surprised he still wanted to be friends after I blew him off like that. But i learned something,

All relationships didn't need to be romantic ones, friendships give you so much love too. The fact that someone who once looked at you in a romantic way, putting their pride aside and still cheering you on was a beautiful gift, not all people carried.

- What are you thinking about love? Chloe asked, while I was lying on her chest, listening to her heartbeat.
- I met Rob today, in the library.

Chloe sat quiet for a second.
- Oh, what happened?

I sat up, facing her.
- Of course nothing like that, it never was, from my side at least. He just wants to be good friends, he even said we were a cute couple.

- He did? Chloe's eyes widened.

- Yeah, and you know that I love you Chloe, only you.
- I love you too Red, and I'm actually happy you made a friend.
- Yeah, but you're my best friend tho, I said winking.

Chloe laughed,
"Friend"

It was later that night, mom was calling me on FaceTime. I was still lying on Chloe's chest.

It was such a comfort hearing mom's voice again.
She wanted me and Chloe to come home for the weekend, she told us she invited Ella too.

I felt my stomach make flips, Chloe was about to see my childhood home. There was no more filters, your real home exposes everything about you, all your bests, all your flaws.

Was I ready to show her everything? All the pain I went through?

I think I was.

"Sounds cozy, mom we'll be there"

I looked up at Chloe, she pushed some hair aside from my face, and planted a few soft kisses on my forehead. That's when I spoke up,

"Chloe, I want a cat"

Chloe chuckled,
