Wednesday morning.
My eyes slowly fluttered open and I felt a familiar pair of arms wrapping around my body from behind. I felt Chloe's steady breathing against my neck, sending a comforting feeling down my body. She was here. She was mine. She was holding me.
I breathed out, not even realizing I held my breath. My anxiety was a lot better, just by Chloe sleeping beside me in my bed at home.
I slowly turned around, facing her, seeing her deep in sleep. She looked so adorable, so kissable. I felt myself grin a little before I placed a kiss on her forehead, that also woke her up from her beauty sleep.
Her eyes slowly opened, revealing the pretty brown color. She stretched out a little, yawning as she turned to look at me, a smile spreading across her face.
- Good morning baby, Chloe said in a raspy morning voice. Making me realize I loved her even more than before, if even possible.
You don't know what's in front of you until it's gone.
- Good morning my love, I answered before connecting our lips in an innocent little kiss.
I admired her beautiful face, taking In her beauty when Zack knocked on the door, peaking in. Both me and Chloe turned our heads to face him. He was dressed ridiculously in one of mom's one- pieces with pink pony's on it, making me and Chloe giggle a little.
- What? He asked, as he watched us giggle louder.
- You're just so mesmerizing, Chloe sarcastically giggled, making Zack roll his eyes.
- Anyways, me and Bridget made pancakes, I guess there's some left over for you guys too, he said, matching Chloe's sarcasm.
- You're always stealing my mom! I stated, throwing a stuffed animal at him.
- I'm not stealing her, she just wishes I was her son instead, he joked as he playfully stuck his tongue out and disappeared out the door.
I rolled my eyes, turning my attention towards Chloe.
- Shall we go eat some leftover pancakes that apparently were left for us? I giggled, kissing her cheek.- Yeah, they really think where worth less for some reason, Chloe giggled as she made her way out the bed.
We made our way out in the kitchen to find a whole plate filled with pancakes, and a bottle juice beside.
We happily took a few pancakes and sat down with Zack and mom on the couch in the living room. They were enjoying some new Netflix show and didn't even notice us entering the room.
- Your mom really wishes he was her son, I guess you're replaced for real, Chloe joked as she sat down in the sofa.
- Yeah, looks like it, I said as I tried to get their attention by staring.
Spoiler alert- Didn't work.
- Well if you're ignoring us, then where ignoring you too, I finally said and snuggled closer to Chloe, enjoining the pancakes.
Chloe watched me eat with a smile, she knew I was struggling, and I felt like she was proud of me for actually eating something. She held me with one hand and used the other to eat the pancakes.
Mom and Zack still didn't notice us, they were so into the show it was fascinating to watch.
- You guys are actually creepy, I exclaimed as I watched them.
- Oh hi honey, got a good night sleep? Mom finally asked, turning around and facing me and Chloe that were completely snuggled up to each other.
- Yeah, having fun with your new son? - I sarcastically said, making mom raise a brow.
- Just say that you love me! Zack exclaimed, joining the conversation.
- I love Zack! Mom said, not really sure why.
Chloe and I burst out laughing, Zack too. Mom rolled her eyes, turning back to the tv.
- So what are we doing today? Zack asked, looking at me and Chloe.
- Oh, guys I made a reservation at this restaurant in town that has bowling and great food, I thought we'd check it out? Mom said, looking back at us again.
- Sounds like fun, as long as I can team with you Bridget, Zack said as he jokingly grinned against me.
- In bowling you don't have teams Zack, Chloe defended, making me stick out my tongue against him this time.
- Whatever, he said as he turned back to the tv.
Chloe and I giggled together, making my heart warm. All the people I loved most in the world in one place. It filled my heart, feeling so safe with all of them here.
Even if everything in the moment was perfect, there was still a part of me that felt like the drama wasn't completely over. I wasn't as calm as I imagined I'd be when Chloe showed up here yesterday. The anxiety lingered in my body.
Sure, it was a lot better, but my gut feeling told me to watch out. There was more to come.
We still had to go back, we couldn't stay here at mom's forever. I couldn't stay here forever, hiding from what was really bugging me,
Gabby.
How would Chloe react when Gabby showed up in school? How could I just turn her down completely, ignore her all the time? It wasn't even possible! We were in the same classes, had mutual friends, went to the same damn school.
The bad thoughts that I thought I'd pushed away were back. Guess life couldn't be perfect all the time.
It just scared me to death. Thinking something like this could happen again. Especially when Chloe found out the whole truth about what happened at the night at Gabby's.
