Erebus stood silently behind Salem, arms crossed, as Salem bestowed upon him a name. Erebus was a name of strength, carrying significant weight. He found it fitting, a name that would command fear and respect.
Salem: We have already wasted enough time my dear children, we must see what Erebus is capable of.
Wolf, who stayed silent for a few moments, decided to throw in a few words.
Wolf: I presume you wish for us to train him, I can surely teach him the ways of the blade.
Artemis: There's no much I could do, Erebus is built for the front lines and my job requires a delicate hand...something Erebus doesn't have...
Salem pondered the advice of her Grimm, recognizing that Erebus, like Wolf, was not crafted for stealth and guile. Given that Wolf had already established himself as a frontline Grimm, Salem deemed it prudent for the seasoned Grimm to mentor his latest ally in combat.
Salem: Then by all mean Wolf, train Erebus until he is strong, only then our plan can continue.
Wolf: I will be sure to do my best my queen, I'll train the boy until he can't move anymore...
Salem shifted his focus to Erebus, who had remained silent throughout the discussions, his gaze distant as if fixed on something unseen.
Salem observed Erebus carefully evaluating Wolf and Artemis, thoughtfully considering their strengths and weaknesses. Such discernment was admirable and astute; for survival in this world, Erebus would have to rely on his wits as well as his physical prowess.
Salem: Wolf, take Erebus out into the yard, it's time to see what our newest champion can do.
Wolf: As you wish.
Erebus unfolded his arms and softly cracked his neck, sensing the perfect moment to showcase his skills to Salem. A smile concealed under his helmet, he felt his heartbeat accelerate; the prospect of engaging in combat with someone as formidable and experienced as Wolf sent a surge of excitement through him.
This would be fun...
-------------
Erebus positioned himself in the front yard of Salem's castle, while the Grimm watched from a distance. He discarded all thoughts shadowed by doubt; the moment for combat had arrived, and retreat was not an option.
As he stretched his limbs, Erebus watched Wolf approach, brandishing his massive sword. Even with its fissures, the sword seemed well-maintained. With adept movements, he spun it in his grasp, then settled into a battle-ready posture.
Salem was standing on top of the nearby balcony, her hair blowing in the air as the two grimm circled each other.
Salem: This is your chance to prove your superiority over Erebus Wolf, and you Erebus, this is your one chance to prove you are capable of holding your own burdens, fight with everything you have, only then you will become a general of my armies.
Erebus: As you wish lady Salem.
Wolf: Crystal clear my queen.
Salem smiled in an evil fashion before clapping her hands.
Salem: THEN GET TO FIGHTING! SHOW ME WHY YOU ARE MY CHOSEN!
Hearing that was all Erebus and Wolf required; the two grimm charged at each other, intent on destruction. They collided mid-air, sending shockwaves rippling through the entire yard.
