Erebus and Artemis locked gazes, both vastly elevated in strength and power. Erebus, having spent years in combat and training, while Artemis had been empowered by Salem as a reward for her accomplishments. Doubts clouded Erebus's mind about his ability to truly defeat Artemis; she was nearly immortal with a legion of Grimm at her command, creatures that would resurrect her if necessary. Drawing his sword and assuming a battle stance, Erebus readied himself to save Ruby and vanquish Artemis once and for all.

Erebus: your fight is with me Artemis, let Ruby go...

Artemis: oh you'd like that wouldn't you? no, you know as well as I do that the girl is important, if you truly wish to save her, you will fight on my terms!

Erebus clenched his teeth in fury; Artemis held the upper hand in both numbers and might. As he stood in the courtyard, he was encircled by grimm creatures on every side. Yet, he knew they would not strike—Artemis would not permit it. These grim were merely pawns, present solely to ensure Artemis's survival.

Artemis: I believe we have chatted long enough Erebus...are you prepared to die?...

Erebus's mask opened and revealed his sadistic smile, oh he was going to enjoy this fight, even if this is his final stand...

Erebus: I'm going to rip your head off...

Artemis: Oh no, that's no how this is going to go...lets end this...

Erebus and Artemis immediately clashed in battle. Erebus aimed to stay on the offensive as much as Artemis permitted, capitalizing on any mistake the grim huntress made. Her strength had significantly increased since their last encounter years ago, her sword slicing through his armour. Erebus then noticed that his aura was no longer shielding him from harm.

Had Salem found a way to combat his one trump card!?

Artemis began to accelerate, so swiftly that only Erebus could keep pace. However, each strike gradually eroded Erebus's defences, sapping his strength. Recognizing the need for full force, Erebus became engulfed in flames, making any attack on him perilous, unless one desired to be reduced to ash. Yet, Artemis remained undaunted.

Artemis: if you think that will stop me!-

Artemis however was interrupted by Erebus appearing before her and impaled her to a nearby shipping container, the grimm huntress let out a roar of pain but was silenced by Erebus who proceeded to slice her head clean from her shoulders

Erebus momentarily turned away from Artemis, and as if on cue, he observed a grimm Beowulf beginning to twist and collapse before him. Anticipating what was to come, he gripped his sword with both hands and assumed a stance he had perfected during his service to Salem, a stance that epitomized the perfect balance between offense and defence.

Beowulf ultimately perished, and from its lifeless form, something erupted. Within seconds, Artemis was revived, muttering and cursing softly. He observed Artemis approaching, sword drawn, with electricity flickering at her fingertips. Clearly, the seasoned huntress had become more powerful. In response, he ignited his body to emit an even greater blaze, his strength surging like a river in flood.

Silence prevailed as Erebus and Artemis engaged in battle, with the cacophony of clashing swords and crackling flames electrifying the air. Every nerve in Erebus's body screamed in agony as he vied with Artemis for the upper hand. Bereft of his aura, Erebus found himself at a growing disadvantage, his wounds mending more slowly with each passing moment. Though he could withstand days of combat, such endurance was only effective against lesser adversaries. Artemis, one of the mightiest entities of Remnant, wielded a formidable power to defy death itself. To combat her was to expend every ounce of vigour within him.
