130 YEARS LATER

Erebus had ascended to new heights of power, shedding his former identity as a talentless grimm. Under the tutelage of Wolf, he had matured into a formidable grimm knight, acquiring skills that rivaled those of his mentor and Artemis. Amidst the chaos, he had even found a measure of tranquility.

With increased maturity, intelligence, and confidence, Erebus led his brother Grimm into battles against Ozma's forces, achieving many victories for the Grimm Queen. He rose to legendary status, comparable to Wolf and Artemis, transforming into a nightmarish entity that sowed fear and dispensed death. However, he had ceased to care...

He wanted this pain, this life to end...

As Erebus devoted more time to missions alongside Artemis and Wolf, he found himself pondering his future once more. What could the future hold for someone as marred as he? It seemed there was no liberation from Salem's clutches.

While Wolf and Artemis were satisfied serving Salem, Erebus felt differently. He longed for an independent life—a longing he concealed. In his heart, Erebus nurtured the hope that someday, someone with enough power would terminate his life, viewing it as the only release from his tormenting reality.

Engrossed in his book within the solitude of his room, Erebus was startled by the creaking of his bedroom door. Lifting his gaze, he beheld Tyrian Callows, the notorious Faunus serial killer whom Salem had once spared. The wretched figure stood there, sporting a grotesque grin and a malevolent sparkle in his eyes.

Erebus: What do you want Tyrian?, I'm busy here.

Tyrian: My lord! Lady Salem requires your presence! she said she has some wonderful news to share with you!

Erebus muttered discontentedly as he set aside his book. What could Salem possibly want from him at this moment? Was there an update that required his attention?

Erebus: Return to Salem and tell her I'm coming, then make yourself scarce Tyrian.

Tyrian left Erebus's room with a wicked smile. The elder grimm knight sighed, standing and cracking his neck back into place while stretching his arms. Erebus's gaze fell upon his helmet, the very thing that had preserved his life for so long, now discarded carelessly on the ground next to his chair.

Lifting the helmet from the ground, Erebus gazed into its hollow eye sockets. Part of him resented its role in his survival. He pondered whether to continue wearing it. With another sigh, Erebus donned the helmet and faced his sword.

The blade, having been better cared for, rested atop the nearby fireplace. Erebus approached and gently touched the blade, observing the faint outline of bloodstains. This sight filled the elder grimm with nothing but shame and hatred, leaving him unable to justify the blade's use.

Were Salem's goals even worth of the bloodshed? was her vision truly worth fighting for?

Erebus shook off his reverie and secured the blade to his back. As his emotions surged, the blade began to warm. With a few restless hops, Erebus exited his chamber and proceeded towards Salem's throne room.

As he walked through the halls of Salem's castle, the old Grimm's eyes settled on the shattered moon of Remnant. He had heard Salem's tales of how the brothers had destroyed it upon their departure. Perhaps if they were to return, they might confront Salem. However, that future was not to be.

Drawing nearer to the throne room, Erebus halted at the sound of Salem, Artemis, and Wolf's unexpected mirth. Their display of emotion was perplexing, as all three were known for their stoic nature. Sensing that something significant had transpired, Erebus resolved to delve further.
