Summer gradually opened her eyes, a sharp pain coursing through her body. As she looked down, she saw that her wounds had been stitched up or healed. Taking a deep breath, she attempted to soothe her racing mind. She then glanced at her rough hands and pinched herself, confirming that this wasn't a dream.

As pain gripped her, she understood that this was no fever dream; she had truly escaped the dungeons of Salem, becoming the first in decades, perhaps even centuries, to do so. For a brief moment, she chuckled, then her laughter grew wild and unrestrained. Tears of unadulterated joy streamed down her face as she closed her eyes, half in disbelief, half convinced it was all an illusion.

She managed to escape from the land of darkness!

Her laughter likely reached a nearby nurse, who hurried in to investigate the commotion. Upon seeing Summer laughing alone, the nurse appeared perplexed but then quietly exited the room. Summer, unconcerned, simply raised her hands and kept on laughing.

But then she remembered one thing, one unescapable truth that clung to her like glue

Erebus was the sole reason she had survived; that grim figure had undoubtedly sacrificed his life for her escape. Summer's laughter faded into soft sobs as she recalled Erebus protecting her, standing valiantly against Salem's fury. The once proud rose clenched her teeth and cast her gaze down at her hands in shame, thinking that if only she hadn't been so weak, she might have been able to save him...

Taking a moment to calm down, Summer reclined in her hospital bed, attempting to focus on positive thoughts. She understood that she couldn't harbor sympathy for a Grimm that had committed atrocities in Salem's name, it just wasn't happening...

Reflecting on Erebus's words made Summer wonder, could a Grimm truly change? Could a Grimm develop a conscience and experience empathy?

Summer was uncertain; she had no expertise in regular Grimm, much less one like Erebus. She wanted to believe he had changed and desired to do good for others, but it was hard to envision Erebus having had a pleasant life.

Reflecting on Erebus's words, she recalled him saying he was fighting because he was scared, fighting for a chance to one day live a life of his own. This realization made Summer feel even worse about her inability to save him...

Suddenly the door to Summer's hospital room opened, there stood Ozpin, a relieved expression on his face, he had a cup of coffee in his other hand and instantly rushed over to Summer's side.

Ozpin: Summer! its good to see your awake now...I...I thought I sent you to your death, I'm so sorry for all this...

Summer: I knew the risks Ozpin, your not to blame here, besides...I had help in escaping the land of darkness...

Ozpin raised an eyebrow in confusion; someone had assisted Summer in escaping certain death? The notion wasn't implausible, yet it posed a greater question: who was both insane and courageous enough to release Salem and endure the wrath of the Grimm queen?

Ozpin: Someone managed to assist you? where are they, I would personally like to shake their hand-

It was at this point where Ozpin noticed Summer was crying, he didn't immediately realise, but Summer's saviour had given his life for her.

Summer: I...I think he's dead...or worse...he gave his life for me to escape from Salem and even bought me enough time to use my semblance.

Ozpin was left with more questions than answers. The individual Summer mentioned must have possessed immense power to fend off Salem and buy Summer enough time to escape. But the question remained: who could wield such formidable power?
