Silence enveloped the Rose family home as Erebus confronted Artemis, the atmosphere cold and charged with tension. Both grim readied for battle. Artemis, though concealing her astonishment effectively, was utterly bewildered and shocked to see her former ally before her. She had believed Salem had annihilated him after he freed Summer; his presence now was utterly inexplicable.

Artemis: H-HOW ARE YOU ALIVE AND HERE?! LADY SALEM SAID SHE DESTROYED YOU!

Erebus tightened his grip on his sword, he was ready to go on the attack if needed.

Erebus: Wouldn't you love to know that, I can only imagine Salem would have a field day with me, you will never know how I returned to life, that knowledge shall elude you, I have but one goal now, to kill you and that pathetic witch you call a master.

Artemis however was not in the mood to hear such drivel, taking a stance with her blade, she prepared to take on her former friend.

Artemis: Erebus, you are a fool! You possessed all that one could desire, yet you cast it aside for what? For a mortal girl destined to age and die! Was it indeed worth it? To abandon everything for someone who might not even cherish you? someone who could NEVER hold a candle to you're own might?!

Erebus let out a slight grumble, aware of Artemis's knack for irritating others. However, he couldn't afford to waver; failing to defeat Artemis now would mean Summer's capture once more.

Erebus: I do not regret my decisions or actions Artemis, you are still in service because you are a weak willed slave, I couldn't live like that, now I'm free to chase after my own dreams...something you can't...

Artemis clenched her teeth and assumed a battle-ready stance with her sword, outraged at the traitor's audacity to insult her so brazenly.

Artemis: BE SILENT! a traitor like you has no honour and no chance of winning this fight, I'll enjoy breaking you, I WILL bring you and Summer before Salem and you will bow, it's up to you how much pain you have to endure before that happens...

Erebus reacted with the poise of a warrior, swiftly raising his sword towards Artemis, his signature grin etched across his face.

Erebus: Then by all means...try it...it'll be the last thing you do...

Artemis let out a sigh before charging at Erebus with such force and swiftness that the ground beneath her shattered. Erebus, anticipating her moves, did not simply stand idle; he was familiar with Artemis's combat style. The catch, however, was that she was equally aware of his tactics.

Dodging the initial attack, Erebus adopted a defensive stance, parrying each strike from the female grimm. Although Artemis was undeniably stronger, Erebus maintained an advantage in defence. However, the elder grimm was aware that strength constituted only a portion of combat, and the intensity of the battle was escalating rapidly.

After parrying the final blow, Erebus deftly twirled his blade upward, slicing a fragment from Artemis's mask. The elder grimm stood, irked as the minor wound on Artemis swiftly mended itself within moments. Erebus, aware of his own similar abilities and the newly acquired aura, knew he was in no position to criticize.

Artemis realised that Erebus would simply stay on the offence if she didn't do something, the elder grimm was smart, maybe as smart as her when it came to combat, but could he dodge ten arrows twirling towards him at the speed of a bullet?

Only one way to find out...

Artemis retreated swiftly as Erebus's sword sliced through the air in a wide arc. In the span of a heartbeat, Artemis notched ten arrows into her bow and unleashed them in a grand, sweeping volley!
