Remus Lupin [1]

"Merlin, Moony, quit staring or your eyes will pop out of your head!" James Potter laughed as he threw a quill at Remus, who blinked and turned to face him with an almost sheepish expression.

Sirius chuckled. "Blimey, Remus, you'll give it away if you keep acting like that."

Remus scoffed. "I wasn't being that obvious. I was barely even staring."

"Oh yeah," Sirius said sarcastically. "And James doesn't stare at Lily like a lost puppy every time she walks by."

"I don't know what...Lilypad!" James jumped to his feet as the familiar redhead entered the Gryffindor common room. "Would you go-?"

"No." She didn't even look in his direction as she approached her best friends, Alice Fortescue and Alana Ellis. Remus and James watched the girls with fond smiles, although Remus was able to tear his eyes away before Alana had the chance to notice his staring.

Remus Lupin met Alana Ellis in his first year, when they were on the train towards Hogwarts. He instantly admired her intelligence and strength, but she was quick to tell him that she didn't plan on being in Ravenclaw like she knew he would assume, but she wanted to be in Gryffindor. Unlike James, who became infatuated with Lily Evans the moment he first met her, Remus only started fancying Alana during their fifth year. She had stumbled upon him during the full moon and it was only because of Prongs and Padfoot (and Wormtail) that he hadn't fully attacked her. Despite this, they remained best friends and she never thought of him as anything other than what she saw before. In her eyes, he wasn't a monster, and she didn't pity him. She never told anyone about his secret and even requested that Remus come see her after he woke following his transformation so that she knew he was safe as he possibly could be.

Alana was a pureblood, like Sirius and James, and would often giggle whenever Remus attempted to teach her about muggle objects or events that Remus's best friends used to tell him meant that she was crushing on him back, since she never giggled in that manner when Lily taught her. Alana became quick friends to the Marauders, but it was Lily Evans, Alice Fortescue and Frank Longbottom that became her closest friends at Hogwarts, outside of Remus, who she often said was her other half, the other being Lily. Remus adored it about her.

Never having the courage to tell Alana how he felt, Remus felt like he had been suckerpunched when a fellow Gryffindor named Fabian Prewett asked her out following the summer before they began their sixth year. It was five months later and she was still dating the twin and Remus despised how jealous he felt whenever they were together. It didn't help that Sirius and James were often at 'war' against Fabian and his twin brother, Gideon, concerning the label of being the pranksters of Hogwarts.

Tall with jet black hair, brown eyes and a curvy figure, Alana had braces until the beginning of September that year, and Remus knew Fabian only asked her out after her late development finally kicked in. Remus liked her when she still refused to wear skirts and was ignoring Sirius's on-and-off girlfriend, Marlene McKinnon's advice concerning clothes. Seeing her happy though, was enough for the half-blood to keep his mouth shut about his feelings. The last thing he wanted was to cause trouble.

"Oi, Moony!" Alana called out, causing James to lift his head eagerly, his eyes darting to Lily with a smirk. "I said Moony, James, not Prongs. Stick your tongue back in your mouth."

She had made her way towards them and hopped onto the couch without another hand, placing her feet in Remus's lap silently. Remus stared down at her questioningly and she grinned. "Hi, Remus."

He chuckled. "Hi, Al."

"You know you love me?"

Sirius opened his mouth but James quickly placed his hand over his best mate's mouth, seeing Remus's cheeks flush a bright red.
