"So what do you think we're hunting?" Luna asked her brother as she hopped up onto the bed without a care, pushing some brown hair behind her shoulder as she did. Sam lifted his head at her question and rolled his eyes when he saw her stretch her limbs over his bed, making herself as comfortable as she could.
"Demons, as far as I can tell." The youngest Winchester responded before turning back to his laptop.
Luna raised an eyebrow. "Demon deals?" Sam nodded. "God, I hate demons."
There was a valid reason for her hatred. The Yellow-Eyed Demon had killed their parents and over twenty-two years later had killed not only her younger brother's girlfriend but later ordered the murder of her best friend too and she had to watch him die. She despised every black eyed son of a bitch that crossed her path ever since, even though she hated every monster that deserved death. Demons were by far the worst of the lot. Luna Winchester was born little over a year before her now-giant brother Sam, and little under three years after Dean. Luna adored her brothers; they were everything to her. They were all she had for most of her life and they were always there when she needed them. She was as close to Sam as she was to Dean but she did admittedly love joining forces with her big brother to tease and prank their younger sibling.
Even though she always adored spending time with her brothers, Luna had happily expanded their little family whenever they met people that they knew they could trust unconditionally. Ellen and Jo Harevelle were among them, as well as their surrogate father Bobby, but she had quickly formed a soft spot for the angel Castiel. But she would never let herself fall so deeply for him that she would tell him, as she knew it would only ever end painful for her. He was an angel, she was a hunter, he was Cas. She couldn't see him feeling the same way. The last thing she wanted was putting herself in an awkward position and having him unintentionally breaking her heart. She was fine admiring him from the friendship zone. Cas would never hurt her intentionally but he also wouldn't understand how much it would break her heart when he told her that he didn't love her like she did him.
There was a reason she avoided falling in love.
"Can't argue with that," Dean responded with a snort as he let himself into the motel room, a bag of freshly bought diner food under one arm. "Sup, Tree Stump, wanna help me out?"
Luna rolled her dark green eyes but jumped off the bed and eagerly took the food from Dean, looking through the bag until she got to the pie Dean had purposely bought for himself. She had always disliked the nickname he had affectionately started calling her when she was a child but she had stopped complaining, as she liked teasing Sam whenever she could but Dean didn't just joke around with their younger brother, he teased her too.
"Hey! That's mine!" He reached for it but she cried out with an excited yelp, jumping over the bed as he attempted to catch her. She climbed over Sam, who yelled out in protest, but she managed to get into the bathroom and lock the door, much to Dean's dismay. He knew that his joking was going to result in this; she always stole his pie from him when the chance presented itself. "Shorty! Give me my pie!"
"Dean, just let her-"
"Shut it, Sammy. She only wants it because it's mine."
Luna chuckled, sitting on the edge of the bathroom counter and opening the packet, making sure Dean could hear it as she did. "You're such a child, Dean-o." She smirked, moving the plastic around loudly.
There was a pause. "How does it taste?" He asked in a small pained voice, as if it physically hurt him to be parted from the pie.
Luna smirked wickedly as she bit into the apple crust and made sure she had a mouthful before speaking. "Heavenly."
