Fred Weasley VS Harry Potter [1]

It was because he couldn't have her. He was sure that was it. He hadn't noticed her until then. He should've, she was always there, even when he hadn't needed her. But he hadn't noticed. He and Zoey were the 'what if' couple of Hogwarts, he had heard the rumors and he knew everyone thought they were crushing on each other already. He and Zoey always laughed it off, but recently, he found himself actually wondering what it would be like to kiss her, hold her and call her his. It was an unwelcoming thought, because Zoey was the daughter of none other than Lord Voldemort. He wasn't allowed to want her, because they were meant to be enemies.

Harry hadn't heard when he first met her, her name never gave it away, she didn't walk around calling herself the Dark Lord's child nor did she have the burden of having the surname Riddle. But she confessed in their third year that she had never met her real parents and Sirius Black revealed her true heritage in rage when he realized who she was. She was born mere months after Harry, and her mother fled after Voldemort's demise, leaving her child behind, as if she did not care what happened to the girl she willingly gave to the darkest wizard alive. Raised as the adopted daughter of Muggles, receiving her Hogwarts letter at age eleven, Zoey hadn't even known she was born as Queenie Riddle until she got a visit from Albus Dumbledore. Harry tried to hate her, but he couldn't. She was a Gryffindor and it wasn't her thought of who her father was. Harry told her what he found out, but she remained true and pure as always, making her even more desirable.

During their fourth year, they were told about the Yule Ball and Harry wanted nothing more than to have Zoey as his partner, as the stress of the Triwizard Tournament was getting to him and he wanted to have his crush beside him, to know someone he liked and trusted was right at his side. She was his friend, even if he wanted her to be more. He didn't know how to ask her. He and Zoey played off the rumors well, but the way she laughed at them as if they were most ridiculous gave him the impression she didn't feel the same way. The last thing he wanted was for her to reject him.

Zoey was a good looking witch with a half-breed father and pureblood mother and she had dark brown hair, light eyes and a nice figure, so she had caught many eyes when the students were told about the Yule Ball. She had been asked by several boys, mainly Slytherins who were eager to date the Dark Lord's daughter, but she rejected them all. She had her eye on a few Gryffindor boys, admittedly, although that made her feel like some whore. She had always had a soft spot for Harry, but he was one of her closest friends, and she had been having a staring contest with Fred Weasley ever since they saw one another during the summer when she visited Ron, Harry and Hermione. She wasn't best friends with the Golden Trio, as she spent a majority of her free time with Seamus Finnigan, Dean Thomas and Neville Longbottom, her three best friends, but she liked to believe she got on with most Gryffindors.

They were taking a pop quiz Snape had assigned them and she had sunk into the seat on Harry's left, as Ron sat between him and Hermione. Harry had felt a slight blush creep upon his cheeks when Zoey sat beside him, her arm brushing against his, and only his second best friend noticed. Hermione had the talent of picking up the small traits that other people would miss.

"This is mad." The youngest Weasley boy hissed as he ignored the glare Snape sent to the back of his head. "At this rate we'll be the only ones in our year without dates." Snape passed by, shoving the front of Ron's head forehead, but the redhead wasn't paying much attention and returned to talking once Snape walked past. "Well, except Neville."

"Yeah, if anything he could take himself." Harry mocked and they laughed together.

Zoey clenched her jaw and leaned forward in anger. "I have you know, Neville's already got somebody so don't go mocking him."
