She stole a glance over her shoulder cautiously, a smirk lifting at her lips when she only saw her sleeping family, her sisters nestled together in their shared bed, the two little girls young enough to do so, and so Ava turned back around and left the safety of her hut, breathing a sigh of relief as the cool breeze hit her face. She smiled for a moment, running her fingers through her thick black hair, walking forward quietly until she reached the tree line. She took off in a run then, a smile gracing her lips as she imagined his face when she arrived before he did. He always got there before her and she wanted to get there first this time.

Within minutes, Ava came into sight of her favorite tree, which was the largest in this area of the wood, the carving 'A&K' marked in the bark, which had been done nearly a whole year ago, the day that she had admitted to have fallen in love with Kol Mikaelson. A smirk grew when she found the makeshift seat in front of the tree vacant, and she strutted forward, breathless and she was still recovering from her sprint. However, her smug smile died when Kol came out from the shadows, his own lips stretched into his infamous smirk that always made her annoyed, as it meant he had won. Again.

"How did you get here before me?" She whined, approaching him and shoving him backwards. "I left early!"

"As did I, darling." His eyes twinkled at her irritation. "I couldn't let our routine change now, can I?"

She rolled her leaf green eyes but allowed him to wrap his arms around her waist, pulling her against him and before she could stop herself, she had locked their lips together, her arms circling around his neck and running through his long thick brown hair. He deepened the kiss, slowly pushing her against their tree, his hands slipping to her backside and he cheekily stole a squeeze, chuckling huskily when she growled, biting down on his bottom lip. She never thought she could ever feel like this with anyone and she knew for a fact she would never feel it for anyone other than Kol. The passion, the desire, the need, the love. It was everything she could ever have hoped to find in a lover.

Too bad she had fallen for the wrong man.

Ava was not in an arranged marriage of any kind, her parents allowing her to choose whom she wished to marry, just as long as he was like her, like her family. You see, Ava was a member of the North East Atlantic Werewolf Pack, her Alpha Ansel being the leader, and her father Orson was his Beta. Her mother had died when Ava's youngest sister was born, and Ava had triggered her curse the following year when one of the men from a neighboring village attempted to come and see her pack turn on the full moon. His name had been Oskar and he had been young, only in his twenties, and had almost been killed by her only brother, Tomas, who had triggered his curse in his childhood. Ava had pushed Oskar out of the way and the man hit his head on a rock, killing him instantly. That was nearly five years ago, when she was fourteen years old. She was close to nineteen years old now, and in a relationship with Kol, who had been forbidden to even consider talking to her by his parents. His father Mikael despised her kind, especially the ones that turned on the full moon, and believed that they would only end up destroying his family.

Kol hadn't liked her at first, the two having met in childhood when Ava and Tomas were crossing their land after finding their father following the full moon, since he had wandered off more than usual. Ava and Tomas had befriended three of the Mikaelson children: Kol, Klaus and Elijah. That was until Esther returned with her daughter Rebekah, who was a toddler, and had ordered the siblings away, as if they would contaminate her children if they stayed too long. Kol had disliked her kind, her attitude and her stubbornness. That changed twenty-four moons ago. Two years ago she had returned from a three month trip with her brother to have changed dramatically, having matured into a beautiful young woman. Kol began flirting whenever he saw her, before he started sneaking off, though he knew better than to do so on a full moon. It was not until a year and a half ago did she finally give in to her desires.
