You sighed tiredly as you followed behind Reid with your bag slung over your shoulder, just wanting to disappear under a bunch of covers and go to sleep. The case wasn't the most difficult that you and team had done but working in Alaska in such cold weather made you miss the comfort and warmth of your apartment. Due to the lodge you were all staying in only having a certain amount of rooms meant you all needed to bunk up. You were told by Hotch to share with Garcia but the moment your boss was out of the way, she had clutched onto Morgan and exclaimed that you were sharing with Spencer instead. He was your best friend so neither of you objected, even if you were really nervous.
Your nerves grew worse when the two of you walked into the small room you would be sleeping in.
"Uh..." Reid began as he placed his bag on the floor, refusing to look at you. "Do you think every room only has one bed?"
You turned and looked behind you towards the door that had opened opposite, which JJ and Prentiss had claimed as theirs. "Hey, Em." You called and she turned to face you before she shut the door for the night. "Is there only one bed in there?"
She looked over her shoulder for a moment before facing you again. "Yep." She closed the door before you could say another word.
Ignoring the knot in your stomach, you closed the door and turned back to the semi-warm room, looking to your friend with a forced smile. It wasn't that you didn't want to sleep in the same room as Reid, as if anything of course you did, but you knew him. He wasn't a fan of other people touching him and he hated anyone else being in his bubble and since you had known him for a while now, you knew better than to try and touch him without making sure he knew it was coming. You had hugged him a few times but sharing a bed was completely different. When you slept, it was the most defenseless you were and you didn't want Spencer to be awkward around you again like he had when you first met.
"I can sleep in the armchair," you offered, heading towards the faded blue armchair in the corner but Reid reached for your arm before you could reach it, which paused you.
"No, no, Y/N, it's fine. I don't mind sharing a bed with you, if-if you don't mind." He added quickly, his words stumbling over themselves.
You giggled, not being able to help yourself. "I don't mind."
The two of you got ready for bed, him letting you use the bathroom so you could brush your teeth before you went to bed. You moved as far on the edge as you could, giving him plenty of room and by the time Spencer came back, he had changed his clothes. He was wearing a plain round collar t-shirt and a pair of striped pajama bottoms and you hated how attractive he looked as he pushed some of his hair from his face as he sat on the edge of the bed, taking his contacts out. You were so used to seeing him in his suits with his adorable sweater vests and gorgeous ties that seeing him look so comfortable in his pajamas made you want to gush like a smitten teenage girl. You hated how cute he was.
"Do you mind if I read for a while?" Reid looked to the lamp on his side of the bed before turning to you. "It keeps me calm and I can't always sleep in a strange place without it so..."
"No, of course you can read." You leaned back against the pillows, smiling at him as he shifted onto the bed, leaning back against the headboard. "What are you reading anyway?"
"Oh, I haven't started it yet but I've read it before." He showed you the small novel of The Great Gatsby he had with him.
"Uh, I sometimes have trouble sleeping, too." You confessed, not outright admitting that the reason you suddenly felt wide awake was because he was so close to you and your heart refused to stop beating rapidly. "Would you...read some to me? Just until I fall to sleep?"
