Stiles stared lovingly at Lydia Martin as she walked passed him, her strawberry blonde ringlets falling down her small shoulders. Stiles grinned, and went to walk after her when he heard someone laugh behind him.

"She won't ever talk to you." A six year old Scott McCall snickered as he colored in a picture of a dragon with a purple crayon.

Stiles sat across from Scott, his big grey sweater hanging off his small shoulders. His hair was cut extremely short, and Stiles hated it. He stared at the boy across from him, and picked up the toy car from the table, playing with it in his hands.

"What do you know?" He said, his eyes still darting to Lydia, who was playing with the dolls with several other girls in the classroom.

"I know pretty girls like Lynn won't talk to people like us."

"Her name's Lydia, not Lynn." Stiles said with a scoff. But he could still see the grin on the other boy's face. Stiles instantly liked him.

"Why do you like her anyway?" Scott questioned while scrunching up his nose. "Girls are gross."

Stiles rolled his eyes. "Not that girl. I'm Stiles."

"Your name's Stiles? That's a weird name." Scott lifted his eyes to meet the other boy's, but his words weren't meant as cruel and he merely smiled as he introduced himself as Scott.

"I'm Emily," a girl announced as she suddenly sat on Scott's other side. Both boys were quickly surprised by her sudden and abrupt approach and neither said a word to her. Honestly, they were both more than surprised by her attitude, they were a little scared.

She was their age, being in their class, with light hazelnut brown hair, her eyes looked very different, one being a bright sky blue while the other was a similar shade as her hair. Her skin was fair, with her ears slightly sticking out. She had her ears pierced, and she wore a blue shirt that Scott would wear, so it was unisex, and her hair was cut so she looked almost like a boy. Stiles frowned when seeing Emily stare at him, but she quickly turned her glance to Scott. He waited for his new friend to tell her to go away, as he was the one that said girls were gross, but the other boy seemed too stunned to even move.

"You're McCall, right? Scott McCall, your mum helped my dad when he was having chest pains last week."

Scott nodded, grinning widely and holding his hand out. "Nice to meet you, that's Stiles."

"Your name is Stiles?" Emily asked, laughing slightly. Stiles didn't like her, and didn't have the same 'we can be friends' feelings he had with Scott. "Well, beggers can't be choosers, right?"

"I don't like you." Stiles told her bluntly with a scowl.

"Well, I don't like you either."

Emily Kenner sighed as she leaned against the railings of the balcony, staring up at the evening sky. She wasn't into big parties, she never was, but ever since Lydia Martin and Allison Argent became friends of hers, they had insisted on planning her party. Since Emily's parents would never allow her to have any party whatsoever, she was having it at Lydia's house. Lydia's parents were both on business trips, so she had the whole place to herself.

While Emily was thankful for her friends wanting to make her have a good birthday, Emily just wasn't feeling it. Allison was with Scott, and Emily hated that Allison was so naïve to the supernatural. Emily was starting to wish she had that luxury. It seemed like everything was blowing up in their faces with the alpha. She hated the thought of something happening to Scott or someone else she cared about, like Stiles for example.

"Emily, are you okay?" Stiles asked as he entered the bedroom, and walked onto the balcony. She sighed at his timing, just as she was thinking about him, he turned up,
