Roy and Fuecoco are in high spirits, singing together as group arrives at the town of Montenevera. The group sees numerous lit candles around the settlement.

Liko; Woah, so many candles.

Ash: The web says this is done to honor souls that passed one. They also do a lot of other stuff, like concerts. In fact there's one today and one tomorrow!

The grouo get to the Montenevera Gym, but the Gym receptionist tells them that Ryme isn't present at the moment. The receptionist redirects the group to search for her near the plaza stage. Thye make their way over there, and suddenly they're surrounded by a pack of Greavard popping out of the snow.

Ash: Aw, these little pups are cute! My Rotom Phone says these are Greavard!

Liko: Can't argue with that!

Soon, the group starts to feel tired..

Roy: Hey, anyone feel a little, tired?

Dot: Yeah, My Rotom Phone says Greavard's natural characteristic is slowly sapping away the life essence of anyone near them.

Fortunately, They find a restaurant and one meal makes everyone recover, while they eat, Terapagos approaches a pair of Drifloon, who grab it and take it for a ride through the air.

Liko: Hey! Those Drilfoon got Terapagos!

The group gives chase, then a gust of wind causes the Drifloon to lose their grip on Terapagos, but it's saved by Nemona and Pawmot.

The group heads back to the plaza, and finds a big crowd surrounding the stage, though Ryme herself is still nowhere to be seen.

Roy: Hey Ryme! WHere are you? I wanna battle you!

MC Sledge: Yo little dude! Ryme's not here yet, but I'd love to battle you as a rehersal!

Roy: Deal!

Roy joins MC Sledge on stage. MC Sledge sends out Sableye, while Roy calls forth Fuecoco, as usual. Sableye attacks with Shadow Claw and Power Gem, both of which Fuecoco dodges before starting to sing with Roy, firing himself up and defeating Sableye with a Flame Charge. Roy leaves the stage and right then, MC Sledge welcomes the star of the day's concert; Ryme. Roy is shocked, having not expected that the woman he met in the woods a while back was actually Ryme.

Ryme: Who want's to join me on stage?

Roy: Me! Me!

Ryme: Alright little man! Come on up!

Roy returns to the stage, and Ryme is surprised to see that he is the Terastal Training student she had heard was coming. Ryme chooses Houndstone as the first of her two Pokémon, while Roy chooses to lead with Kilowattrel. The Frigatebird Pokémon attacks with Spark, which grazes Houndstone despite its attempt to dodge. More Sparks follow, until Ryme has Houndstone to use Phantom Force, dodging the next attack and striking Kilowattrel, then finishing it off with Crunch.

Fuecoco steps forward to battle. Roy and Fuecoco start off by singing their song, during which Houndstone uses Scary Face, following up with Crunch just as Fuecoco charges in with Flame Charge. The attacks repel each other, and while Fuecoco's second Flame Charge misses due to Phantom Force, but he's fast enough to turn around just as Houndstone reappears and hit it with a Flamethrower, defeating it.

Ryme sends out her last Pokemon: Low Key Form Toxtricity.

Liko; Wait, that's not a ghost type.

Nemona: Not yet it's not.

Ash: What do you mean by that Nemona?

Roy and Fuecoco perform their song once more then attacks with Flamethrower, but Toxtricity uses Overdrive to repel the attack. Roy has Fuecoco use Stomping Tantrum instead, but is blocked by another Overdrive. Fuecoco's attempt to attack directly with Flame Charge is also foiled, this time by Boomburst, making Roy grow more and more desperate.

Ryme: Struggling to win? That may be becuase Toxtricity's Ability is Punk Rock, which boosts the power of its sound-based moves. R

Roy: Doesn't matter, I'll win!

Roy has Fuecoco sing once more before attacking with Disarming Voice. Toxtricity doesn't even flinch from the hit.

Nemona: Punk Rock also has a second effect that decreases the damage taken from sound-based moves.

Ash: Woah, so Roy's song is working against him!

Ryme starts her counterattack and has Toxtricity to use Hex. Fuecoco dodges the attack by jumping into the air, which backfires as he's hit by an unavoidable Overdrive while mid-air. Roy's desperation takes over, and he immediately Terastallizes Fuecoco in a rushed manner. Before Fuecoco can do anything, Toxtricity blinds him with Venoshock and finishes him off with an Overdrive, ending the battle without Ryme terastllzing her. Ryme stares at the broken boy.

Ryme: If you think you passed this test, you're delusional. Come back to me after you've washed your soul.

Ryme walks away to resume her concert, leaving Roy to be with his friends and try to cope with how he has failed to utilize his partner's full potential. Ash gets a buzz on his phone, and sees a message and goes over to the group.

Ash: Hey Roy? I'm sorry man , but Tulip has a modeling gig coming up, and if I don't battle her tomorrow, I can't for a while. So I have to go.

Roy: It's okay, I get it Ash.

Ash: I'll be back as soon as I can.

Ash and Roy fistbump and Ash runs off.

A/N: I know It's repetitive , what I'm doing with Ash's tests, but for me it's the best way to have Ash take his test without making a whole new chapter. Hope you guys understand :)
