What If Ash was in Pokemon Horizons?

Dance, Quaxly! The Blue Medali Step!

The trainers arrive at the Medali Gym, Dot approaches the receptionist's desk. "Hi, I'm here for a Tera Training exam against Larry."

"Oh, I'm sorry," The receptionist said apologetically, "Larry isn't present at the moment. He left to visit a Gym clientele, although he should still be somewhere in Medali."

Dot sighed, trying to contain her annoyance,  "Alright, we'll look around, thank you."

The trainers exit the gym, Quaxly hears something and runs off. The group follows, finding Quaxly watching in awe as an Oricorio puts on a little dance performance alongside its trainer. Once the performance finishes, Quaxly approaches Oricorio and is noticed by its Trainer.

"Hey, your Quaxly seems to really like my Oricorio." The dancer said, shaking Dot's hand,  "I'm Diva."

"I'm Dot." Dot introduced herself.

"Woah, is that the World Monarch with you?" Diva asked, pointing to the trainer trying to hide his face with his hat.

Dot sighed, "Yeah, that's him. Look, we're trying to find Larry, you got any idea where he is?"

"Yeah, I can lead you to him." Diva answered, "But only if your Quaxly joins us in a little dance!"

Quaxly looks up to Dot with hope in his eyes, "Alright buddy, get in there."

Quaxly excitedly begins dancing alongside DIva and her Oricorio, "Good form, Quaxly!"

Oricorio uses Revelation Dance, leaving Quaxly impressed. He starts mimicking Oricorio's dance steps while using Low Kick. 

Quaxwell releases itself from its Poke Ball and dances alognside it's previous evolution, "Wow, you guys have dedication to the Quaxly line!"

"Um, not to rush anything," Roy began, "But weren't you supposed to tell us where Larry is?"

Diva blinked, "Oh right! You'll find him at the Treasure Eatery!"

The trainers enter the Treasure Eatery a little while later, "Hi, we're trying to find Larry." Dot told the staff, "We were told he was here."

"Oh, you're just in time," A waiter said, "Larry's just finishing up now."

Larry comes around the counter, "So you're the trainer I'm testing," he said blankly, "And Ash, good to see you again."

Ash's eyes widened in shock, "Wait a sec, you're both a Gym Leader and an Elite Four Member?"

Larry nods, "That's right," he turns to a cook of the restaurant, "We're gonna need a battlefield, can you lend a hand?"

The cook nods, pushing a button that pushes tables aside and transforms the dining area into a battlefield perfect for a Tera Training test.

"Okay, that is awesome!" Ash beamed.

"I know right?!" Roy exclaimed.

Dot chooses to lead with Quaxly, while Larry chooses Komala as his first Pokémon. Dot begins to implement the strategy she planned out, Quaxly uses Water Gun  to blind Komala. Quaxly plans to follow-up with Liquidation, only for Komala to strike with Yawn just before Quaxly's attack can hit. Quaxly immediately falls asleep, allowing Komala to strike with Sucker Punch. 

"Okay, the strategy's dead." Dot muttered as she recalled Quaxly and sends out Tinkatink.

Tinkatink stares down the tiny Komala with determination. Komala uses Yawn again, but Tinkatink avoids it by covering her eyes with her hammer. Komala follows up with Slam. Tinkatink dodges the attack before striking with Brutal Swing. Both Pokémon clash with each other several times before eventually knocking each other back. 

"Keep this up, Tinkatink!" Dot exclaimed, "Brutal Swing!"

Tinkatink begins to wind-up her hammer, only for Larry to recall Komala and send out his Staraptor. Tinkatink tries to strike with Brutal Swing anyway, only for Staraptor to simply avoid it by flying. While Tinkatink is disoriented from winding-up, Staraptor strikes her with Wing Attack, defeating her in an instant.

Dot sends Quaxly back into the battle, shaking him awake. Quaxly strikes with Water Gun and tries to follow up with Pound, but Staraptor easily shakes off the Water Gun and uses Hurricane to send Quaxly flying before Pound can hit. Staraptor follows up with Air Slash Dot has Quaxly use the smoke that was created by it to get behind Staraptor and attack with Liquidation. But Staraptor's Brave Bird easily overpowers it.

Quaxly is still able to stand back up, Dot notices that Quaxly is flapping his wings in the same way Staraptor is and remembers how Quaxly had earlier combined his own moves with Oricorio's dance moves.

"I got it!" Dot declared with a grin, "Quaxly, combine all the moves you've seen!"

Quaxly takes a deep breath, just like how Komala took a deep breath to unleash Yawn. Creating an even stronger Water Gun that strikes Staraptor heavily. Quaxly mimics Oricorio's moves to land a stronger Low Kick, and then flaps it's wings in the same manner as his opponent to strike with Pound. Finally mimicking winding-up like Tinkatink to finally land a Liquidation. Staraptor meets the it with Wing Attack, but is overpowered and sent flying back. 

"Great job, Quaxly!" Dot praised. Quaxly looked back and beamed at his trainer, suddenly beginning to glow and change shape. A Quaxwell soon stands in Quaxly's place.

"Woah, Quaxly evolved!" Ash exclaimed.

"Quaxwell!" Ash's own Quaxwell let out a proud cry.

"Let's trend and create buzz, shine!" Dot grinned, pulling out her Tera Orb and Terastallizing her new Quaxwell into a Tera-Water type. 

Quaxwell attacks with a powered-up Liquidation, powering through an Air Slash to deal a big hit and sending Staraptor crashing to the ground. Larry decides to pull out his own Tera Orb, Terastallizing Staraptor into a pure Normal type. Staraptor swiftly attacks Quaxwell with a strong Facade thanks to the boosted power of Terastallization, knocking him out and concluding the battle.

"No..." Dot murmured, she had gotten so close, and still lost.

"You still did great, Dot!" Liko reassured.

Larry wrote up his report, "Final status: Pass."

"Wait, what?" Dot perked up, "How?"

"You used both Pokemon very well and your Terastallization was timed perfectly." Larry explained numbly.

Larry sends a stamp to Dot's Rotom Phone as Ash's Quaxwell high-fives Dot's Quaxwell.

"Well, now that Dot passed," Roy began, "Then I'm up next against Rhyme!"
