What If Ash was in Pokemon Horizons?

Sparkle! The Glow of Flame and Art!

The trainers arrive in Artazon, seeing the locals putting up various art displays, causing Dot to search the internet on her Rotom Phone. "Looks like we came during some art festival that happens every year."

"Hey, look at that!" Roy pointing, the others look and see a statue of the Black Rayuaza acting as a centerpiece of the festival. "Braissius finally finished it!"

Ash spots Hassel nearby setting up a sign, "Hey Hassel!" Ash exclaimed.

Hassel smiles upon seeing the children, "Hello there! I'm assuming you're here for a Basic Test?"

Roy nodded eagerly, "Yeah, mine! Do you know where Brassius is?"

Hassel laughed, "I can take you to him!"

The trainers follow Hassel, who leads them to the Battle Court, where Brassius is working on his next piece. "Oh Brassius, you have a challenger!" Hassel said playfully.

Brassius perks up, "Why, you've brought them right to me, thank you old friend!"

Liko raised an eyebrow, "Wait, you two are friends?"

"Friends?" Hassel laughed, "Once upon a time I took Brassius under my wing when he was in another one of his slumps."

"Brassius, I'm here for my Basic Test!" Roy declared, "Let's battle right now!"

Brassius put a hand to his chin, "I'll admit, I'm curious to see how far you've grown. But, no, I must finish my next piece!"

Roy deflated, "Aw man!"

"I'll battle you!"

Roy turns around to see Nemona standing there. "Wha?!" Roy recoiled backward, "How'd you get here?"

"I'm always around when there's a battle!" Nemona said cheekily.

Roy grinned, "Alright, you're on!"

Ash pouted, "Aw man, I wanted to battle Nemona..."

"Maybe next time, Ash!" Nemona reassured.

Roy and Nemona take their places on the Battle Court, sending out Pawmot and Fuecoco respectively. Fuecoco uses Stomping Tantrum, which Pawmot dodges and counters with Quick Attack. Fuecoco follows up with Disarming Voice and Flamethrower, both of which hit their mark. Rain begins to fall, but Roy doesn't notice, too foucssed on the battle. Fuecoco uses Stomping Tantrum again. Pawmot dodges the attack with Dig, though Fuecoco strikes it with Flamethrower once it resurfaces, turning the rain to steam. Pawmot shrugs off the weakened Flamehtrower and uses Double Shock, which is enough to knock Fuecoco out. 

"Fuecoco!" Roy ran over and cradled his partner, "But, I don't understand, why didn't Flamethrower work?"

"You didn't notice the rain?" Ash asked. "Rain makes all Fire-type moves weaker."

"Well then I want a rematch!" Roy exclaimed, "Cause if it weren't for the rain, we would've won!"

"Not with your current mindset." Brassius said suddenly, "You shall never achieve victory if you keeping battling as you did now. And until you can find out what's missing, you'll never master Terastallization. As such, our battle shall be on an indefinite hold."

"What?!" Roy deflated.

"Perhaps you all should make art of the festival to get our minds off everything." Hassel suggested, "This year's theme is making art with your Pokemon."

"We get to make art with our Pokemon?!" Ash beamed, "I'm in!"

"Do you even know how to draw?" Dot asked.

"No, but I can try!" Ash replied.

"I wanna join in too!" Liko said, already thinking of ideas because of her father's skills.

Roy spots Fuecoco staring at Brassius' sculpture in awe, "Alright fine." he sighed.

The trainers are led into the Artazon Gym, Brassius and Hassel provide them with some matierlas before giving them privacy to work. Ash sends out his current team of Pokemon, wanting them to pose so that he can draw them. Dipplin sees the blank canvas and sprays some syrup on it, Ash looks at the messy canvas and gets an idea, "Good idea, Dipplin!" he praised, "We can use the syurp as paint, Quaxwell, think you can make the syurp a bit more smooth?"

Quaxwell nods and blasts some water on the syurp, allowing Ash to use his finger to move the syurp around. Meanwhile, Roy uses all his strength to sculp gaint lumps of clay into a Charizard. The clay begins to slump and fall just as Roy finishes, forcing him to hold the clay up to little effect.

Brassius approaches him, "Looks like you're in quite the struggle, remember that anything within your reach could be a clue to create art."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Roy asked as Brassius walked away, "Hey! Get back here!"

Fuecoco suddenly sneezes, unleashing a set of flames on one of the clay wings, hardening the clay and holding it in place. Roy suddenly smiles, "Anything in reach, like Pokemon moves!"

The trainers eventually show off their projects to Brassius and Hassel. Nemona shows off a carving of Pawmot while Liko and her Pokemon show off a painting of Arboliva. Ash proudly shows off a drawing of him and his Pokemon, although the drawing is subpar and the canvas is wet and sticky. Dot shows off a miniature ferris wheel featuring Tinkatink's hammers. Roy's Wattrel helping power electricity in order to make it move. Roy presents his Charizard sculpture, which he has Fuecoco ignite its eyes, mouth, hands, and tail right in front of the adults.

Brassius smiles, "Seems like you've taken my words to heart. I'll be waiting for you at the Battle Court."

Roy eagerly follows Brassius, his friends and Hassel follow behind him. Roy and Brassius soon stand opposite each other on the Battle Court and send out Fuecoco and Sudowoodo.

Fuecoco makes the first move with Stomping Tantrum, but Sudowoodo uses Substitute to avoid the attack before countering with a Stone Edge that strikes Fuecoco. Fuecoco uses Disarming Voice, which Sudowoodo blocks with another Stone Edge. Roy has Fuecoco use a flurry of Flamethrowers and Sudowoodo use Substitute to block every single one of them, creating a barrage of Sudowoodo clones. "I'm well prepared for an attack I've seen before." Brassius taunted.

Roy looks upon the battlefield, seeing the many clones of Substitute. "Which Sudowoodo is the real one?" Roy then spots on Sudowoodo sweating and he smirks, "That one, Fuecoco, now!"

Fuecoco repeatedly strikes the real Sudowoodo, forcing Brassius to switch plans. Sudowoodo tries to strike with Stone Edge, but is overpowered by a Stomping Tantrum from Fuecoco. Brassius smirks and pulls out his Tera Orb and Terastallizes Sudowoodo into a Grass type. ROy responds by pulling out his own Tera orb and Terastallizes Fuecoco into a Tera-Fire type. Both Pokemon charge at each other with a boosted Trailblaze and Flame Charge. Fuecoco overpowerse Sudowoodo and pushes it back, allowing him an opening to strike with Flamethrower. Sudowoodo falls to the ground as a result, with sprials in its eyes.

Brassius recalls Sudowoodo, "I humbly accept defeat. You are a trainer worthy of Terastallization, without a doubt in my mind, you have passed."

Roy picks up Fuecoco as he reverts back to normal, "We did it, buddy!"

"Oh jeez, I'm next." Dot realized before taking a deep breath, "It's okay, Quaxly and I have gotten stronger, we got this."

"We can worry about that later." Ash placed a hand on her shoulder, "Right now, we should grab a bite to eat, I'm starving!"
