After Liko catches Hatenna, she, Ash, Roy and Friede arrive at the entrance to the Galar Mine, where Liko notices her new friend trembling in her hood. This leads the group to think that Hatenna must be reacting to the Black Rayquaza's feelings. As Dot finishes up her Nidothing video on Slurpuff Cotton Candy, Murdock hands donuts to Orla and Mollie, the former fawning over ship parts she got from Motostoke. They get a message from Liko about how she and Hatenna became good friends.
As Liko and the group delve into the mine, they notice some Pokemon living there fleeing from something.
Friede: This must be part of Rayquaza's diet.
However, Liko, Ash and Roy run off during his explanation and can't find their way back to him.
Friede: Kids, stay put, I'm sure Ash can protect you guys until we can meet up again!
Ash: Okay!
The trio hear a cry, and Roy runs off after it
Ash: Roy! Friede said to wait!
Ash and Liko run after him
They point their attention to a high ledge, which Sprigatito checks, but to no avail. As they continue their search, Sprigatito gets startled by a Woobat, who flies away. Liko and Roy find the Woobat hiding in a hole with a Timburr and Roggenrola. Liko, noticing how scared they are, offers them some of Murdock's cookies, encouraging Hatenna to join them too.
Just then, Liko, Ash and Roy hear the mysterious cry from before, which scares the Wild Pokemon away and makes Hatenna tremble again. Liko, Ash and Roy follow Woobat to a settlement where some workers and their Pokemon have lost their stamina.
Ash: Woah, you guys look burnt out
Worker: It's the World Monarch
The other workers murmur about how The World Monarch could help them
Worker: Monarch, our spirits have been taken away by a giant Pokemon, please, stop it, and help us!
Ash: A giant Pokemon? Don't worry we'll take care of it!
Liko: We?!
As Cap keeps searching for the kids, he sees a dark aura looming above. After Liko calls the Pokemon Center to have the workers and their Pokemon treated, Liko, Ash and Roy decide to meet up with Friede, who finds strange claw marks in the cave wall. However, Liko, Ash and Roy are confronted by Zirc and Onia.
Zirc: Going somewhere?
Ash: You guys?! Pikachu! Let's do this!
Pikachu: Pika-
Pikachu gets caught in a net
Ash: You've gotta be kidding me.
Jessie: Heyo Twerp!
Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet!
Ash sends out his Quaxly, while Jessie sends out Yanmega and James sends out Capsakid.
Ash: Liko, Roy, can you guys take care of the Explorers!
Roy: You can count on us!
Ash: Quaxly! Lets do this!
Ash's Quaxly: Quaxly!
Onia commands Golduck to use Scratch on Sprigatito, but Cap blows it to a nearby chasm with Thunder Punch, having found Liko, Ash and Roy. Just then, Liko's pendant starts to glow with the mysterious cry from before. A Galarian Moltres bursts from the chasm, stunning everyone and making Hatenna tremble.
James: What in Arceus name is that?!
Meowth: It looks like a Moltres!
Ash: Who's that Pokemon?
Ash scans it with his Rotom phone
Rotom: Moltres, Galarian form, The Malevolent Pokémon, a Dark and Flying Type, This Pokémon's sinister, flame-like aura will consume the spirit of any creature it hits. Victims become burned-out shadows of themselves.
Ash: Moltres has a galarian form?!
Liko points to its talon, which is holding an Ancient Poke Ball. Moltres unleashes Air Slash, which Cap deflects. However, Golduck and Rhydon receive heavy damage, forcing Onia and Zirc to recall them back into their Poke Balls and make a retreat. Ash has his Quaxly use Water Gun to free Pikachu, then Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on Team Rocket.
Team Rocket: We're blasting off again!
Wobbuffet: Wobbfuffet!
Moltres uses Fiery Wrath, draining Cap and the others of their stamina
Ash, his Quaxly, and Pikachu also push themsleves back up.
Cap dodges Moltres' Wing Attack before pushing Sprigatito out of the way a second Wing Attack, taking the hit from the attack as well as its following Air Slash, Ash has Pikachu use Thunderbolt and his Quaxly use Water Gun.
Roy and Fuecoco's determination to keep fighting overpowers the effects of Moltres' aura. Moltres uses Hurricane to deflect Fuecoco's Flamethrower and catch it in the tornado. Cap saves Fuecoco before Moltres launches another Air Slash at Roy, which Cap blocks with Thunder Punch. However, Cap receives heavy damage. Liko and Hatenna sense Moltres' rage, which starts to collapse the mine. Knowing what will happen if they stay here, Liko's resolve to get her friends to safety overpowers the effects of Moltres' aura. Roy is shaken with fear by the sheer power of Moltres before Liko snaps him out of it. They use a mine cart to make their getaway, with Moltres hot on their tail, Ash stays behind to keep Moltres busy.
As Ceruledge and Charizard continue their struggle, Friede and Amethio notice Liko and Roy fleeing on the mine cart and are shocked at the sight of Moltres coming out as well, with Ash attacking it with his two Pokemon. Charizard uses Flamethrower to save the kids from Moltres as Friede tells them to take care of Cap. An enraged Moltres then confronts Ash, Friede and Amethio as Liko and Roy flee from the mine.
