The episode Kai and Cole reunited Jake with his family Skylar was looking. Kai noticed and comforted her.
I think what happened was Skylar and Kai found out Skylar was being hunted down because of her elemental powers.
But at that time Skylar was pregnant
With Wyldfyre
So because Wyldfyre is a girl she inherited Skylar's powers.
And I think the criminals found out
So they made the painful decision of sending her away
But Wyldfyre had heat I know
I can't explain that.... YET
Maybe later
Because as we saw ( for those who saw ' it' ( spoiler) she wasn't there)

" Bye, Mia!" Nelson called as he stepped out the door. " See you later!"
" Wait!" She called, grabbing his bag and putting stuff in it. " I added a little something for my little honey." She said, kissing him on the cheek.
Nelson couldn't help but wrap his arms around her and spin her.
" Uh, isn't Nelson gonna be late?" Someone said through a mouthful of toothpaste.
Mia turned, to find Kai, brush in hand and rollers in hair.
" Oh yeah. Thanks Kai." Then she turned to Nelson. " Bye Nelson."
